What problems happen with your labia?

Contributor: Eucaly Eucaly
I was reading in the labiaplasty thread about labia experiences and a lot of other people's experiences didn't seem to match mine, so I wanted to ask a poll and see just how common my problems are, or whether anyone else has them.

These are all things that happen with my inner labia, not my outer labia.

I have no problems but I know people who do. I can see a reason why they would get surgery if there are a lot of problems. I watched this one interview with a woman who had no problems but hated how they looked. Her ex had made fun of her about them so she decided to get surgery.

I have issues with my labia wrapping around and twisting which causes pinching. However, I do not consider it a problem, I consider it normal. Using lube helps avoid those issues during penetration, and when they get pinched or twisted in my underwear or jeans they require manual adjustment (just like men have to occasionally adjust themselves, so do I).

The only time to ever have surgery for such things is if they interfere with function...such as causing pain, and ruining pleasure. Believe me, every guy I have ever heard finds EVERY shape woman beautiful, so forget doing it for "aesthetics".

My problems are minimal, but yes, two of these options to happen from time to time.

I have somewhat large labia, but the biggest problem I seem to have with them is the need for extra lube to get things inserted, otherwise they get caught on a penis or toy that Im trying to get inside, and they get pushed inside. but I wouldn't have them reduced, all that extra skin means more to feel, and be felt. IMO

Mine are largish too and I haven't had a problem but everyone is different though so none of this is abnormal.

Just some minor discomfort, but don't think I'd get them reduced.

I'm so jealous of all the people who say they don't have problems with theirs. I checked off almost every one of those.

After getting mildly curious about labiaplasty and searching, I found it did more harm than good as it led to some pretty horrible sites that gave me a complex about how mine inner labia look as well, which had never previously been a problem.

I've been trying pretty hard to convince myself surgery isn't worth the risk or the money, particularly seeing as my two main interests and biggest time consuming activities are college/graduate school and horseback riding, both very expensive. For now I'm trying to avoid looking at other people's labia (which sucks because I like looking at erotic pictures of women and female porn) and to not "research" the surgery any more in the hope that after a couple months or a year of detox it won't bother me as much. We shall see...

I've occasionally had an issue where... don't even know how to explain it. I suppose it would be the equivalent of a guy having a hard-on that didn't want to go away?

Especially if things have gotten rough & my labia are irritated or for whatever random reason, they will on rare occasions not want to go back to normal for a bit after sex. They'll stay sort of swollen & poofy for a bit, making me feel like I've got small testicles! I don't think that's happened for years, though, since I discovered lube... so I think it was sort of an irritation thing. I advise against whatever it was. Haha.

I've actually never really experienced any of these before. I have more of a uhm... smooth labia, both inner and outer. I'm not sure if there are any other known terms for it. However, my girlfriend has more pronounced lips than I do and sometimes I do experience the issue of having to go on a journey to find her clit or even her vaginal opening. Though, it's not annoying, it's actually kind of fun and tends to get her even more riled up.

I don't have any problems with my labia, I don't mind spreading my lips during masturbation. Doesn't bother me.

Mine get in the way of sex and toys every time! I HATE it and sometimes get so frustrated with it. I voted mine get wrapped up when using toys or during sex and I voted other. When they get pulled so hard during sex (even with lots of wetness or lube!) it will cause serious pain. Every once in a while I'll have pain for hours after sex. It'll hurt so bad just to stand. It's like they're throbbing and almost like my labia get a migraine! Even when we're super careful. I wouldn't say mine are huge, but they are there. They don't actually go inside my vagina during sex, but it'll pull and they try to! Lol.

Also, when wearing jeans or shorts that ride up and get tight on my crotch from sitting, it will cause them to hurt and stay sore for quite a while. I hate them darn things they're always causing me discomfort. Other problems I have include dryness. For some reason I had a terrible problem with it this past week. I think it's from the medication my dr. put me on and also antibiotics! The skin started peeling and my labia swelled majorly. Now it's going down and feeling better, but it was pretty extreme.

I have to do this, too.

Honestly, though? I never through of it as a "problem" or even an inconvenience. Having to adjust my lady junk seems equivalent to adjusting my pants from time to time after I stand up. I do it automatically and it doesn't cause me grief.

My labia sometimes 'roll in' when a toy or penis is in me- once the object comes out THEY come out, but it can be painful and sometimes difficult to start sex without lube unless I spread them a bit. Kind of kills the excitement a little, especially when there's an OUCH moment

Mine are pretty long but I have no problems. When I first started having sex they'd get caught up, but I've learned to spread them, and the erectile tissue takes care of the rest so that they're out of the way.

I experience no pain with tight clothes/bike riding but maybe I'm one of the lucky ones. It may help that I have almost no majora at all- my skin lies pretty much flat across the bone and muscle there- so there's less rubbing?

I've heard a theory that pain experienced by people with longer labia may be caused or exacerbated by negative feelings toward them. While I'm sure most of this is real pain and annoyance, it may be something worth looking into.

I tend to get a pinch once in a while because one side of the outer labia is bigger then the other. Also, I grew up in an abusive situation and at one point they thought it would be funny or something to cut up my inner labia. I'm glad that I don't remember the act itself, just the aftermath.

I'm not very happy with how I look. But, I would never get any kind of surgury to fix it. I don't believe in getting cosmetic surgery.

I've checked off almost all your boxes, although I do not "dry" my labia or pull it out of me if it curls up within me for fear of a yeast infection.

I've had a bartholian gland removed from my labia as well, abscesses from an in grown hair lanced- which is weird because my public hair seems to grow sortof inside the outter lips a little and that is where I seem to get them.
