I used to go once every day but over the last month I've been doing it every other day. I'm pretty sure sure that the change was caused from my schedule being switched and the stress that came with that. This started then I started college.

I've recently cut grains, starches and sugars out of my diet, and I haven't been constipated at all. And it's nice, I don't run to the toilet immediately after eating either, like I did for the longest time after my gallbladder removal.

So what about you? How often do you go?
I know this poll is icky, but we're all adults here. Personally, I think it has a benefit so we can see how we compare to the other women here. less

I think a lot of people worry that it's not natural to go two or three days without "going number two," but every body is unique and it will eliminate waste at it's own convenience. Only if you don't go for quite sometime or if you're in pain should you really start to worry.

As long as I eat plenty of fiber (brown rice, whole grains, leafy vegetables) I don't have any issues.

I thought I was the only one here who had IBS! It's really a terrible and in some cases debilitating problem. I only developed it after years of endometriosis. My OBGYN said that IBS almost always accompanies endo for some reason. Anyways, it was severe and with the endo too, I got severely ill a few years ago and ended up sick as heck and only 80 pounds! I've finally recovered, had surgery for the endo a year ago and was prescribed pain meds and a very light anti-anxiety med that's also for stomach probs. Now, I only take the meds maybe once a week if even that.
I got desperate and started eating coconut oil about 6-7 months ago and soon after I started taking aloe vera pills which I continue to take on and off. I quit the coconut oil because I got to where I couldn't handle the taste and after only a few days of using it I got extremely better then a few weeks later started the aloe and I swear I don't even have IBS anymore! I'm sure a lot of it's due to some hard praying and study in the healing department, but the only probs I have now is around the time my menstrual cycle happens (I still have symptoms, but usually only light spotting) some days I'll experience "contractions" which are terribly painful and I often end up doubled over for a while, but they only last for a few short minutes. I'll have slight problems from the endo. but that's all! I've finally got to start my life and it has been amazing! I had endo. since my early teens and was so ill for a few years that I never really got to live or do anything and now I'm making up for it!

I have IBS caused by a teenhood of anorexia, and an early adulthood of bulimia. I'm getting treatment for my years of disordered eating, and that will probably help more than anything.

I was told at one point that I had IBS and I didn't eat very well at the time. I now eat welll, drink at least four good size glasses of water a day and make sure to eat some fruits/veggies and whole grain breads and I go daily. I'm regular and I feel better and am rarely bloated like I used to get.

I've never had problems, actually... but I have a friend who does (maybe undiagnosed IBS, I don't think she's ever gone to the doctor for it), and it does affect her life a little bit. Frequently needing a bathroom means certain trips/events are a no-go for her.
11/04/2011
I usually try to eat things that are mostly healthy and in turn help out with going to the bathroom. So once or twice a day for me, depending.
11/09/2011
I go almost every day.
11/13/2011
I think I have IBS...I've never been diagnosed but what makes me think this is that I alternate between constipation and diarrhea and it's never really normal. From ready other peoples entries on this thread it sounds very possible.

I have a low thyroid problem that impacts how much water I have in my system so I can get severly constipated which can lead to Diverticulitis so I take fiber supplements and drink lots of water to compensate.

For me it's all about my eating habits. When I'm home for the summer and can eat healthy and regularly I'm fine. But when I'm away at school and grab food on the go and don't think about what's in it, or how often I eat, my bathroom habits are a nightmare
11/30/2011
Ha! Hilarious poll. Miss D, you rock!

I generally don't have many problems in this are.
12/08/2011
I regularly eat yams, bananas, and kefir in my diet. I rarely have constipation.
12/31/2011
Most of my issues are food related. Like food I'm allergic to. They can bind me up or loosen me up.
12/31/2011
Before I started taking Culturelle probiotics once a day I only went 2 or 3 times a week. Now I go 2 times a day and have not experienced upset stomach or anything in 6 months. I also take chia life seeds inside of my meats to help move any old waste. You can get both products at walgreens or health food stores. Good ole fiber will help too. Just replace your sugar filled cerals with fiber one and you are good to go...it even tastes great.

Kudos for putting this out there. There are a lot of different topics that women and men alike don't like talking about. Personally, Im all about the whole "knowledge is power" thing. If you don't understand your body, then how are you to know how to take care of and manage things when they arise? Some things can be very serious too, and you not even know it. Always best to discuss and research these things!

I don't normally have issues. Sometimes it happens, but usually not.
01/07/2012
I usually don't have that many problems, going about once a day or every other day.

My medications and now lack of activity due to my foot problem makes it hell for me. Since I've started the Herbalife diet (it's weight loss herbal thing, people give me a weird look when I mention it like I mean weed or something) things are much better but still a problem. There have been times I cried because my cramps are so bad. I think I may have some type of IBS from reading about it and what goes on with me but I can't afford anymore medication without insurance so I just deal (or should I say suffer). But like I said, before this diet I skipped class or called off work due to it and left work early before. I just can't wait til I can get back to exercising since that really seemed to help. I also don't drink enough fluids and was dehydrated the last two doctor visits and had no idea until they told me.

you know when my IBS acts up it usually happens when i travel- i just try to stay hydrated and watch what i eat. also fiber is supposed to be a heal all. when you cant go and when you cant stop going. i dont know how it fixes both but fiber is my best friend! though if you dont have a lot in your diet you should slowly add more in- because i think it can bind you up if you take too much at once and your body isnt used to it.

I never knew one could actually poop regularly. I always went randomly, sometimes after holding it for days because I was in school or at work when I originally had to go (I learned to live with a plunger close by ). I began eating plain yogurt + flax + fruit for breakfast each day a month ago and have been pooping daily. I drink coffee sporadically and it usually makes me go within a few hours, too.
I still, however, get traveler's constipation. When I'm at my boyfriend's house, my system shut downs and I am stuck trying to pass a brick. That's nerve wracking as 1] It's super painful and 2] I'm scared I'll clog up his toilet. I was on vacation this past week and drank 3+ cups of coffee per day, yet still couldn't go. I bought milk of magnesia but was paranoid my bowels would go to the extreme opposite, so I haven't tried it yet. less

As long as I stay hydrated, I am usually fine. I had to have my gall bladder out emergency surgery earlier this year, and getting over the nasty results of that took awhile! I was worried that I would have the runs forever, but luckily they finally went away. My surgeon did not warn me about that at all, I had to do some googling to find out that it was a common problem after that type of surgery.
