I have used tampons without an applicator in the past but based on the fact that the majority of the tampons sold in the U.S. have applicators I have only used these maybe 3 times in my life. I don't mind the ones without applicators though.

I have been doing a lot of research about menstrual products of late for an upcoming feature on my blog. In a lot of what I've been reading has shown me that it seems as though women in the US much prefer to use tampons with applicators rather than those which are inserted digitally. This article in particular link states that only 3 or 4% of US women prefer the Non applicator sttle of tampon compared to 97% of European womnen.
Here in Australia I only know of one type of applicator tampon on the market and personally can't stand them. I much prfer to use the 'digital application' style that you put in place with your finger.
So here is my question, which continent are you from and which style of tampon do you prefer? less

I only use tampons with an applicator. Partly it's because that's what I started using when I was 13 and intimidated by the idea of putting my fingers inside me, partly because there are more options available, but mostly because it's just easier. Plastic applicators slide in really easily, and I find that when I push down on the plunger, the tampon just slips naturally into the right place behind my pubic bone. It just seems silly to fiddle around with my fingers when an applicator just "knows" where the tampon is supposed to go.

I only use tampons with plastic applicators

Applicators easier to insert

I use the ones with an applicator.

I use both.. More often I'll use the ones with cardboard applicators. They're biodegradable and cheaper.

I don't think I've ever tried a tampon with out an applicator. I've tried the cardbord applicator during an emergency once and hated it. Personally I like using a plastic applicator or just a pad. U by Kotex is probably my favorite, they have a great applicator that doesn't open in my bag.

with sorry i'm to scared that its going to get lost inside me

Honestly, I prefer to wash out plastic applicators I use (with a bleach solution, I want them as sanitary as possible) and re-use them to put in non-applicator tampons.
About the only reason I don't do so more often is because it's usually my mom picking the tampons out and she prefers a certain applicator included brand.

OB are my favorite.

Tampax Pearl are the ONLY tampons I'll use. The smoothness of the plastic makes it much easier to insert, especially when it gets kind of dry down there.

I use tampons with an applicator.

I quit using tampons years ago. I did use the ones with an applicator though. Now I use mama cloth and love it.

with an applicator just for ease.

Only with a applicator. They're just so much easier for me.

I'm from the US and I haven't even used a non-applicator tampon. They are a lot cheaper and US marketing is all about pulling out all the bells and whistles.

I chose both sometimes I use with applicator. But I prefer the O.B. if I can find them. They are the only ones I feel comfortable with.
09/03/2012
Definitely with applicator

I have recently started using a diva cup. However, before then I used tampons with applicators.

I always use tampons with an applicator. Im not sure i would know how to insert one with out an applicator...

Always with an applicator.

I never knew they had tampons without applicators!
12/29/2012
I've tried both, but I like applicator free much better! Recently started trying o.b. tampons and they are amazing. I have more control over where it goes.
12/29/2012
It's easier to use them with applicators

I don't even know what an applicator looks like. My mother does not use them either. We both agree that they were invented by people who want us to think our bodies are gross and that women should not touch their own vaginas.
All that scented crap is bs too. Personally, I use a menstrual cup (divacup) but when I used tampons, I only bought them without applicators. Also, they are CHEAPER! They come with way more in a package and it's not hard to stick it up your cooch yourself!! Applicators baffle me.

I use an applicator, but I try and inspect the Tampo before use just in case.
12/30/2012
I prefer applicator tampons, but often use non applicator if they are on special offer in the supermarket! They work just the same but are slightly messier to use, specially on heavy flow days.
