How long do you leave tampons in? I have some times left mine in for almost 11 hours because I was sleeping or I forgot. How long is too long?

My little tampon booklet says "up to 8 hours" but I've always heard the maximum is 12 hours. Usually I just change them when they're full, but when the flow is light, it's so tempting to just leave it in.

I used to leave mine in for a max of 8 hours.....but now I use a cup and it's INFINITELY better than tampons.

I use a cup. Tampons are scary, because of that risk! You should not leave them in longer than 8 hours, and it's better to change them more frequently.
Toxic shock syndrome cases are actually increasing again since they took the warning about not sleeping with them in off many boxes, and re-released "maximum absorbency" tampons.

The most is probably 5 hours, maybe up to 8 but never longer than that. And it depends on the flow.

I am terrified of Toxic Shock Syndrome, I would never leave mine in longer than 4 hours. I would wake up in the middle of the night to change it too.

Depends on how heavily I'm bleeding at the time. The longer I can get away with it, the better.

6 hours, max. I'm uber paranoid about TSS.
