Suitability for piercing

I have been wanting a vertical clitoral hood piercing or a triangle piercing for a year or more. I was planning to get it done this week or next as a Christmas present to myself. Last night I googled the piercings I wanted and found a website that showed ways to measure yourself to see whether you would be a candidate for a particular piercing.

Based on the measurements the website had me do, I don't think the triangle piercing would work and my hood is borderline too small for that piercing too. The site said to get an in-person consultation if your measurements were off, but I am kind of worried about that part... I don't know any piercers and would be taking a shot in the dark at picking somebody to do it. I'm kind of concerned that the piercer would err on the side of trying, with potential disastrous results.

Have any of you ever had this experience? Has anybody actually been turned away for not being suitable? Or has anybody been pierced when they shouldn't have been? I mean, I assume that the person would be professional enough to give me an honest answer but I don't really want to mess around down there if I'm not entirely sure.

The best thing to do is to just go in for a consultation.

Read reviews of places, ask questions. Do you want someone shitty messing around down there in an area where permanent damage can happen ? Don't take a shot in the dark - look up places, visit them, look at how things are set up. Look at portfolios. Look to see if things meet guidelines.

A reputable piercer can tell you what you'd be suited for, and even possibly come up with a unique solution for unique anatomy.

And they're more likely to turn you away than try to do something they can't if you go to a decent place.

The only problem is that some piercers seem reputable and decent but still have no idea what they're doing. (Sorry, being devil's advocate is in my nature)

But Chirple does have great advice there, to do a lot of research and read a lot of reviews and ask a lot of questions when you go in for a consultation.

Hopefully things will work out. It is easy to see a good job in a portfolio, but it is scary to think about all the potential mishaps that didn't make it into the portfolio.

I don't have any friends in the area who are pierced. I'm thinking I might wait until I go on vacation in a bigger city this spring-- I do have some friends there with piercings and would trust them to point me in the right direction.

O, shoot ! I almost forgot ! *smacks head*

If you go on somewhere like BAF : link , people there can most likely recommend someone good in your area.

They've helped out people in some places I've never heard of, so I think it's worth a shot.
