Never sleep with them in.
08/17/2011
I always sleep with it in. I had no idea about this.

I would never sleep with a tampon in. I only even wear them occasionally, and then it's 4-5 hours max. I'm not risking the chance of getting TSS.
08/18/2011
i simply cant go to sleep with a tampon on
08/18/2011
Luckily for me, I have a small bladder so I get up a couple times a night anyhow so I can sleep in one and have no worries about anything. Never had a problem yet!
08/18/2011
I only sleep with a tampon on heavy days because I don't want to get it all over the sheets so I will use a tampon and a pad!
08/18/2011
It is indeed scary, but I know the signs. I keep myself educated on it, and like my BDSM training I am "risk aware" about TSS.

No no no bad bad bdad!!!

Vitaluv
Hi, I'm Vita and new to all of this sexy times stuff, but I cam across this and laughed because I was talking to my friend about this today.
This is a true story of a little Christian girl whom, in coming into her womanhood, was completely freaked out by the use of tampons because the thought of walking around with something up my vagina when I'd never even bother really look at it, scared the crap out of me. LOL.
I got my period when I was 13 and it was a very painful experience for about ten years of my life. It lasted a full seven days (four of which were hellish, and we're talking about throwing up, horrendous cramps that made me feel I was being stabbed repeatedly and nothing prescribed or over the counter helped) and it was just not pretty. But I was just scared too use anything but pads, even though my mom was like, "You need to get a grip and use a bloody (no pun intended)tampon because it can't be convenient to use a pad." I was really just afraid of TSS and having something foreign in my body and in such a private area. And birth control was not an option for me or my parents.
I'm 27 now and having had two kids who are now 2 and 4, my cycle is heavy but not how it was back in the day. And I have just started using tampons since probably July of last year. I don't know what the hell was wrong with me, but I love them. Keep yourself clean, stick a fresh one in after you showered and are ready for bed. and you can sleep the whole eight hours without worrying about soiling your sheets. I don't get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, but for those who do, just use a fresh one if you do. Add a pantyliner and you're good to go.

I've had to take meds that stop my bleeding for about 7 yrs now due to female issues so it doesn't apply to me right now, but when I was I did sleep with one as a teen. I've never been OK with the idea of sitting/sleeping in a puddle of blood and to be honest it feels absolutely disgusting and I hate the feeling of that. I cannot wear pads. A liner is fine, but mine were FAR too heavy for liners. Sleeping in a tampon is not going to cause TSS if you are responsible. I woke up within 2-3 hours of sleep and changed. If not, the bed would be ruined. Also I never wore tampons with a higher absorbency than what I needed and that's where most people are not fully educated. They don't know the importance of choosing the correct absorbency for their flow and it changes from heavy to light and therfore the tampon should be changed to fit.

I use a Dive Cup and cloth pads now, but when I used to use tampons I never slept with one in. Now, I wouldnt even think about using a tampon ever.

I do sleep with one overnight at the beginninng. As of lately I have been having extremely heavy periods in which I have had to change a super + tampon in and hour to hour an half. Sleeping without one would been a really big mess. and I dont want to wake up covered in blood. But for me, its more of a piece of mind, more than anything. I havent had any issue. I will change it during the night and definitely change it 1st thing in the morning.

I used to sleep with them in, and I never had a problem. But I switched to a diva cup years ago and haven't looked back.
08/19/2011
I don't usually sleep with one inserted.
08/21/2011
I use a Diva Cup- best invention ever!
08/21/2011
pads are too uncomfortable.
12/09/2011
I sleep terribly and wake up often so I can go to the bathroom and change it if needed. It's not an issue.

On my really heavy days, for the first two nights, I wear a super tampon to sleep in because I can't stand the feeling of a pad. Other nights I don't wear a tampon because I don't really need one. I know there are risks but I hate the feeling the first two nights and it's only two out of seven and I'll take the risk.
01/22/2012
It is not actually all that risky, if you read up on TSS, to have a tampon in for the 8 hours of sleep.

I rather use pads at bedtime.

I sleep with a tampon in all the time. I too don't get the all way, just because you don't agree with that decision does not mean that we don't care about our bodies. Most people do only sleep 8 hours, so that is no worry. I put one in right before bed and then first thing in the morning. at max 8.5 hours. I have never had a single issue.
01/23/2012
i never do
01/23/2012
No I'm way too paranoid about TSS and such.
01/23/2012
I always put in a new tampon before going to bed. Plus, I rarely sleep through the night, so I usually change it one of the times I wake up.
I'm too paranoid about leakage, so I always wear a tampon during my period.

Nuuu! Too scary. Before I got my diva cup, I would use pads while I slept. Freaks me out to leave a tampon in while I'm sleeping.
02/06/2012
I hate them with a passion so I definitely would not sleep with one in.
