I've seen women walking around with HAIRY underarms and to me it looks so tacky, and unclassy. It's a big turn off and if I was a guy I would not talk to a woman who doesn't shave her underarms. Do you shave your underarms? And how do you feel about women or even men who have hairy underarms? I think it's different for men, but I still think that men should trim, but women should shave. Some men naturally have very little hair under their arms but some have lots of bushy hair and they leave it which is very disgusting to me. Emagine laying down next to your man and your head is under his arm and your feel the hair from his arm pit in the back of your neck! (ewwww) Same for women. It's just my opinion I think you should keep that area trimed for men and shaved or waxed for women.

Yes I shave and my mans under arm hair is naturally short, It's almost like he has no hair so it doesn't bother me

It's disgusting to see a woman with hairy underarms, I always keep my underarms free of hair.

i have to shave every 2-3 days . it's crazy

I shave my underarms daily! I am so paranoid that they will be hairy! I would die if I were to leave the house with man-ish pits!

I think people are free to do what they like with their bodies. My Man and I spent a lot of time on the Grateful Dead Tour circuit and many women didn't shave, either due to personal choice or even lack of regular access to lots of running water. It never bothered me, as long as people were clean and most were.
I shave my arm pits, but it's my personal choice. My Man certainly doesn't trim or shave his armpits and it doesn't bother me in the least. He's one of the sexiest men I know. I've never even thought about him shaving anywhere except his face. And I prefer a little goatee anyway.
I know a lot of women who don't shave either because of circumstance or choice or even because of very sensitive skin. I have some African American and other dry skinned friends who get terrible ingrown hairs, so it's actually very painful for them to shave their armpits. It doesn't bother me. I have other much more important things to worry about. I've given up being "offended" by things that don't make any difference a LONG time ago. (And even years ago, when I was more offendable, I never cared what other people did with the hair on their bodies. It simply isn't my business. I also have more important things to think about.)
Is the OP serious that if she "were a guy" she "never talk to a girl with hairy underarms?" That's a little harsh. What if that hippy chick turned out to be the sweetest, nicest woman you ever met, and turned out to be one's soul mate? And, someone gave up on her because of some superfluous ideas about body hair? How sad.
I wasn't a "mean girl" when I was in Jr High and I try not to be one now. I don't refuse to "talk to" people based on their physical appearance.
Mileage and all that.

I guess to me it's a non-event in my life if someone chooses not to shave. Who am I to tell them what to do?
08/28/2011
I imagine that I don't even think about it. We have hair for a reason and if it's easier for them not to shave, or whatever their reasoning is, then more power to them.

I have about once a week, but I also get horrible razor burn and a crazy itch afterwards. It's not like I walk around with my arms up in the air or anything, either. My lover doesn't care at all because he used to date a woman who didn't shave at all.
And if a man expects me to shave, I expect the same from him.

I shave. I find hairy arm pits on women disturbing.

Before I had laser hair removal under my arms I shaved them once a week, because I got awful razor burn if I shaved too often, and my guy shaves his every day I would find it unattractive to date a guy with hairy underarms :/ and I have seen women who don't shave under their arms too but I am not really bothered by it, because it's a personal body choice, although I don't find it attractive personally. But then again I am not dating them, so can't complain

I shave my underarms about once a week. I also find hairy pits unattractiveon both men and women.

I shave my arm pits regularly, but it doesn't gross me out, nor would I refuse to talk to someone with hairy arm pits. There are many cultures who do not shave arm pits or legs customarily, and in my work I deal with those cultures on a regular basis so I'm used to it. There are many times when I allow my leg hair to grow longer, and it would probably gross you out. But the cultures I deal with on a regular basis it is not an issue because they don't either. We are mammals, so we have body hair. I think that kind of stuff grossed me out when I was younger, but now I just realize that it's part of having a human body.
08/28/2011
I wouldn't not talk to someone because they had hairy armpits. That's just rude. I don't think having hairy armpits is gross. It's very natural. Shaving every bit of your body makes you look prepubescent and that's gross in itself.
08/28/2011
I think hairy armpits are unattractive on anyone.. even men. I shave mine, but I also shave everything else. I hate hair.
08/29/2011
I'd prefer not to have to deal with body hair, as the smooth hairlessness is more comfortable/aesthetica lly pleasing to me. But that's only in terms of my own body. I don't want to snuggle a bear, but a little body hair doesn't bother me. I'm lazy about shaving because it's such a chore.
08/29/2011
Since shaving has become a socially accepted custom, it stands out a little when a woman doesn't do it, but it doesn't really bother me. In the warmer months, I usually shave under my arms once or twice a week, but in the winter, I only shave when I feel like it, or when I'm going to be wearing something that would make it obvious that I hadn't. I'd really prefer that women hadn't started shaving at all, but since it has become the accepted custom, and I don't like to stand out, I do it.
08/29/2011
I shave my underarms, and my husband doesn't shave his. If he wanted to that's fine, but it's just hair, and who am I to tell anybody else what to do with the hair on their body. While I may not find hairy underarms on women that attractive, I fully support every human being's right to shave or not shave as they see fit. It would be extremely rude of me to pass judgement on somebody's grooming habits when I know nothing about them.
08/29/2011
i think hairy underarms is gross on everyone, but i only shave under mine every other day b/c they get really irritated if i do it every day. luckily, they don't get too bad on days that i don't shave. i just make sure to wear sleeves on those days.

My best friend's sister in law is pretty natural...if nature didn't mean it to be that way then it wouldn't, type person.
Yeah she wore a strapless dress to her wedding, and didn't shave her pits...I always wondered how many pictures the photographer got of the brides pits...

It's cultural because a long time ago companies wanted to create insecurities in order to sell women razors so they could fix what was "wrong" with them.
I do shave mine. But if someone else doesn't, I don't really care.
Maybe I won't shave them one day. I dunno. People should just do what makes them comfortable.

Hair removal goes through various phases in historical eras and various methods or states of hairy-ness have been popular throughout the centuries. My own body hair bothers me. I've tried going long periods of time without shaving or waxing, but I've ultimately decided that my body hair irks me. The body hair of others doesn't bother me as long as they're generally clean and don't smell horrible.
12/05/2011
It really depends. Sometimes my skin gets hypersensitive so shaving my underarms can set off a horrible reaction that lasts for weeks. Other times, I'm just fine.

Ugh, I am gay and for some reason many lesbians think that keeping their underarm hair is a statement for feminism. I find it super unattractive. I have friends who do this and I like them as people but underarm hair is a huge turnoff for me.

I honestly don't give a shit what anyone else chooses to do with their own underarm hair but I have to admit that overly unruly pit hair is a turn-off for me. If I'm watching a movie and there's a guy in a wifebeater with out-of-control pit hair, it disgusts me to the point where I get distracted from the plot. *L*
