Sex &toy use with yeast infection

Contributor: Zombirella Zombirella
I know we're all adults here but it's still a little embarrassing to me but after debating about whether to ask or not I figured what the heck?

Do people have sex while they have a yeast infection? (I don't because it hurts me)

Is it safe to use a toy while having one? (non-porous of course, silicone, glass, etc)?

I'm asking because I have a review due next week around this time &thanks to the dentist putting me on antibiotics this happened to me as it does every time I take an antibiotic and though I got meds to treat it, I don't know how long it's going to take to clear up.

Sometimes I really hate being a woman

I'm sure that people still have sex while having a yeast infection. Not everyone recognizes the symptoms for what they are. Keep in mind that it takes time for an infection to go away. You risk the chance of re-infecting yourself the next time you use that toy if not properly cleaned.

If you get more than four yeast infections in a year, you may want to discuss the issue with your doctor to see if there is an underlying medical condition.

Contrary to popular belief, both men and women can get genital yeast infections. Visit Mayo Clinicfor more information. It is recommended that you wait until all symptoms are gone before having intercourse again.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I'm just not sure if I want to even risk it with a toy. I don't think I get them that much, but I have been on antibiotics several times this year and they always cause one for me. I've been to the doctor, they know about it because I ask for that little pill. The gyno doesn't seem to find anything and said I am just one of the unlucky ones that gets them from antibiotics as well as PH imbalance every once in awhile with my period. He also told me that stress (which I'm a highly stressed person) as well as birth control can cause them. They are never bad though and tend to clear up within a few days. I've just been sick this winter and have had to have work done on a root canal twice and those things all required some type of antibiotic or another. I need to start eating yogurt regularly or trying the herbal supplement or vitamin whatever it is to keep things in sync.

I would definately not have sex with a yeast infection. Well you could but then you could get reinfected if you are taking medicine to get rid of it, or your partner could get it. I mean I have done it, but it was really uncomfortable. You could try out toys with it externally but internally you just wouldn't be giving a good review, at least untill your symptoms are gone once they're gone you can have fun with toys just clean them well and get on some anti-biotics

The infection can be external, and either way it is not just internal and there will still be yeast/the ability for the toy to pick it up even if it is just used externally.
