So, I have read that red clover blossom tea is good for uterine health and and can help in conception... I have done a lot of reading on this and was mostly wondering what you all thought and/or read on the subject?

Raspberry leaf tea is good for that though it also helps with menstrual craps but shouldn't be consumed if pregnant or trying to conceive.

While it is good for urinary health and can help with fertility if over used it can actually harm the kidneys...course this is true about most herbal remedies. I would advise finding a local homeopath or herbal healer and asking them what they recommend. Also rememebr that if you have had unprotected sex for over a year without a resulting pregnancy you should see a doctor or fertility expert. Still a little herbal support can help with cleansing and supporting early pregnancy but again seek a professional since a WHOLE bunch of herbs that are good for pregnancy can cause miscarriage if over done. There are really good sites online that can help you learn all about herbs and their benefits and drawbacks but use caution and discretion, these are still drugs!
Good luck!
Good luck!

Red clover has been linked to cancer, actually. Large doses are very harmful and if you are allergic to aspirin, stay away. Red clover has been known to trigger allergic reactions similar to aspirin allergies. If you're thinking about taking any herbal supplements, talk with an actual medicial doctor. A lot of these "home remedies" do more harm than good.

I drank Red Raspberry Leaf tea while pregnant, on my midwife's approval. There were other ingredients in the tea as well, and I think red clover may have been in there, but it was over 6 years ago. I think with any of these things as long as they are used in moderation they're fine, but I would certainly check with your doctor/midwife first beforehand.
07/22/2010
I've read up a bit on it now, and I keep finding links going back to saying it can or might cause cancer. That's kinda scary.
07/24/2010
Never heard of it. Where were you reading about it?
07/26/2010
A lot of teas are "supposed" to have wonderful properties, I'm sure some of it is certainly true...and some probably less so. Haven't heard of this one.

Definitely check with your doctor/herbalist for "expert" advice, but I use red clover pretty regularly as a general tonic. It tastes great and has amazing healing powers. Like any herb, I wouldn't take it for more than two weeks straight, but I throw it in my tea every few days. There's probably more effective herbs out there depending on what you want and your body type. My all time favorite uterine tonic is Yarrow, but it's not a good herb for conception. I take that the week before I start bleeding.
Keep researching!

I'd be nervous about trying any sort of herb while pregnant or trying to conceive because it is mostly unregulated.
08/02/2010
What is this?
08/04/2010
I say talk with a doctor about it. I never heard anything about it myself, and I love herbal remedies and the like, too.

With most herbal remedies and manufactured drugs the old adage applies: "What can cure can kill...what can kill can cure" It's all about the dosage and proper usage. That's why it's best to talk to someone who has studied homeopathy.

I've heard of it, but I don't know if I agree it actually works. Airen has some good things to say.
Herbs can be helpful, but you need to know what you are doing. Especially when it comes to your body.

Never heard of it but I believe natural methods are the best. I take a natural combo of herbs for my blood pressure. Dropped to normal numbers about 5 months after taking it.

I am Native American An use alot of Natural Things Clover is one of them. If you get worried obout your UT take cranberry. Clover helps control mood swings in teen girls along with the red raspberry. It can be toxic in large doses. If you have a red clover patch near bye just and you know that its clean just pop off the red tops {purple really} and dry them. Then when you want your tea take the tops and put them through your coffee pot. Use honey not sugar.

I love herbal teas, but like with everything moderation is the key. Also remember, the claims are usually exaggerated a bit. Will Saint John's wart improve your mood, yeah. Will it cure your depression, probably not!
On another note, like several people said it has been linked to kidney problems and possibly cancer, but if you think about it most things are bad for your kidneys and can cause cancer in large dosages.
Best course of action, talk to an herbal friendly doctor.

Had no idea

Drink it in moderation and it does help a bit. Raspberry tea (leaves), helps also by working with the menstrual part - not if you want to get pregnant or are nursing, though. I went through miscarriages and endometriosis and finished with ovarian cancer years ago and tried almost everything. Message me if you have any questions.

never even heard of this!

I recently read an article about "natural ways to improve your chances of getting pregnant" that listed Red Clover, Red Raspberry Leaves, and some other (slightly off the wall) product as helping to improve your chances by drinking them in tea form.
Honestly, I don't follow any of the holistic "mumbo jumbo"...a lot of it seems like an old wives tale really. If enough people eat nothing but Shrimp for 3 months prior to getting Pregnant, maybe Shrimp can improve the chances! (See my point in all that sarcasm?)
I would say go to an OB, ask if it is right for you... My OB took me off my Cholesterol meds and switched my BP meds to a "safer" one, but we haven't touched on the food end of things just yet because "we" found a huge fibroid that could be causing my issues (it's the size of a large grapefruit and I have an appointment this week with the surgeon who will be removing it).
If it isn't something you are not sensitive to (the teas), a glass or two a few times a week shouldn't hurt... I drink all sorts of teas because I like the flavor, I won't drink them if they taste bad, no matter what they are supposed to be "helping"!

I drink it a few times a week. I also take a caste berry supplement 2 twice a day. Both are suppose to help your get your system working better. After I started taking the caste berry I noticed that the few hairs I have on my chin were becoming thinner. That's a good thing lol
If you've been trying to get pregnant for over a year then definitely talk to your doctor, and make sure you have health insurance that covers fertility treatments! We don't, so our attempts to have a child are over. I just don't have thousands of dollars to spend on it anymore. We don't qualify to adopt so it's over for us. I don't think I'll even bother getting more of the supplements once I've taken the rest of this bottle.

I like to google Susun Weed's name with the name of the herb for questions about different herb properties. She's a trusted herbalist and I've used her advise a lot, plus she has tons of content online. So, it's likely you'll find something for whatever you're curious about. Never heard of this but love reading all the very wise advice/suggestions provided above. I would agree before starting on any regimen especially for pregnancy that a medical professional should be consulted as already advised.

I have not ever heard of this and would really do the research to make sure it is ok before you use it. Sometimes this kind of thing is good for you but only in a low or controlled amounts. Good luck hope all goes well.
