Pain During Penetration

Contributor: Eden C. Eden C.
I have a lot of trouble using toys that are more than 1" in diameter. The pain I have is toward the front of my vagina. I think I just constantly have a urinary tract infection, but I tested negative for it, and my doctor didn't really have any follow-up ideas. What could it be? What can I do?

You may have cervical irritation. I had some minor pain/bleeding issues with sex and I went to the gyno she checked me out and said my cervix was red and irritated it could have been from a new soap or downey scent. She stated that after certain ages hormones do change and certain things like laundry soap, downey etc... can effect your cervix and irritate it. If you have changed anything to new products try changing back to your previous ones. As for the pain are you well lubricated? It may feel wet but it may not be enough you could try using some pink water lube or one of your choice and this may make a difference. I hope that this may help you.

Yeah, I'm well lubricated. The pain doesn't feel cervical, but I know how things radiate. Were your pap smears normal when you had the cervical irritation? My pap smears always come back normal.

I actually experience discomfort during sex quite often. It's usually in the front and back, and often it's a feeling similar to menstrual cramps. If yours is similar, i've found that using a LOT of lubricant helps the most. Another idea, if your problem is similar, would be to masturbate externally first, to sort of loosen up your insides and be more "open" to larger toys.

That's smart, I've never tried masturbating first!

The pain is more like someone is trying to push something up my peehole. It's more of a stinging and a burning.

If your pain is urethral, it could be a number of things, including urethral cysts or even chlamydia. If your gyno isn't taking your symptoms seriously, time to get a new gyno!

I should look into the cysts. I know I do not have chlamydia because I tested negative for it.

Thanks!

My paps were normal. I get the pain sometimes still.

Hmmm, I guess I'd better look into it. I guess I didn't consider this as a factor before because my pap smears are normal. Thanks!

I had this same problem a few weeks ago. Turned out i have a yeast infection with BV on top of it so i had to take antibiotics and a single dose Fluconazole pill. If your really worried you can buy a over the counter screening kit from vagisil thats what I got.

Damn! That's really unlucky, because the yeast eat the bacteria (or maybe it's vice versa, I don't remember) so it's usually one or the other.

Also, a note for anyone reading: if you take antidepressants (specifically SSRIs), do not take Fluconazole! It made me physiologically unable to sleep for 4 days and I had to have a super-fun psych ward vacation.

Thanks! I hope your VJ is feeling better!

I have something that sounds a bit like that, but it's more like a sore friction (no matter how much lube I use!)
