Menstrual Cups + Lube

Contributor: Derpina Derpina
I really want to get a menstrual cup but I feel like I'll need (or at least will be more comfortable with) some sort of lube to help with insertion. So for that purpose, what type/brand would you recommend? I really have no experience at all with lube or menstrual cups, so I don't know what to look for or what to avoid! Any advice would be greatly appreciated

They're usually made of silicone, so water based lubes would work with them. I use Sliquid Organics Natural for sex. I find I don't really need lube with the cups.

Agreed, anything water-based should work just fine.

Personally, to insert mine, I just rinse it with water, and leave a bit of the water on the outside of it - that's enough help for me for insertion.

I'd also recommend doing a test run before your period. I practiced wearing mine - inserting it and removing it - for several days before my period actually started. I found the practice really helpful.

Best wishes!
