I've heard both of these procedures can be uncomfortable and a little painful if you're not used to them. Which one do you think is more uncomfortable?

I think the mammogram is more uncomfortable. Thankfully it doesn't last long!

Try to book your mammogram visit around the good time of the month, it can be crazy painful right around your period.

I haven't had a mammogram yet but watching my mother get one was a painful experience! Pap-smears are uncomfortable and embarrassing to me but I would way rather have one of them than a mammogram!

I've never had a mammogram, but it's my opinion that papsmears aren't so much painful than they are just uncomfortable. But they are over quickly and you get used to it.

Mammogram is far less uncomfortable on new machines that don't smoosh your breasts like the old ones did. Pap smear can be a bit uncomfortable, but it depends on the skill and care of the clinician. I have had good, and NOT so good. NEITHER is "painful" and BOTH are VERY important. Believe me, there will be MANY more painful things in life...with far less gain, then doing these important tests for your health. If you want to talk PAIN, just try getting a disease instead and having to be treated for it...needlessly. THAT is pain.
