Did your hymen break? Or did you break it yourself? I myself assume I broke mine but am not really sure. I started masturbating before sex and the first time I did not bleed and it didn't hurt.

I don't think my hymen is broken, it just stretches, but I don't know for sure.
01/26/2013
I accidentally broke mine myself from a tampon. I didn't know what had happened at the time because I didn't know what a hymen even was, but I'm glad it happened and I got it over with then.
01/26/2013
I had a very low hymen at birth, and it broke from playing sports when I was about 11. Didn't hurt, just a little blood.
01/26/2013
I have no idea when mine broke, but it wasn't from any type of sexual encounter.
01/26/2013
Yep, mine broke first time and I was a little embarrassed needless to say especially since it was the first time and I didn't know that would happen.
01/26/2013
Honestly, I'm still unclear on what the hymen actually IS. I think I'm one of those ladies who never had one. Sex didn't hurt and I didn't bleed at all the first time, so I totally don't understand the concept

I did a lot of sports like wrestling, gymnastics, rowing, etc. so it broke before.

Hymens actually DON'T BREAK This is one of those annoying sex myths.
The hymen is a super thin membrane that only partially covers the opening of your vagina.
It's made to stretch, it allows for tampons and obviously sex. Bleeding or pain means you've torn it, but it does heal itself.
Unfortunately, the myth of breaking your hymen messes with your first time. If you feel any pain, discomfort, or bleed during your first time (or any time after), it means you were properly prepared. It can be a number of things; tension, not enough lubrication, your partner is heavily endowed, the position is off...
But yeah, basically. We all still have our hymens, and will for life. If you feel pain during sex (well, unwanted pain), it means something is off !

My hymen tore when I was 11 during a bike ride. Lol

Yes, mine did break when I lost my virginity. Yes, it hurt quite a bit, but I'd say not any worse than what I feel often time while my partner and I are having intercourse. It almost always hurts going in because of the tugging and pulling, even with lubricant. Losing my virginity wasn't as painful physically as people had lead me to believe though. I bled a little, not even an entire tablespoon full, though. I also started masturbating before sex (years and years before). Hymens can break during something as simple as gymnastics or other vigorous activity, though so it'd be hard to tell exactly when/what/how one breaks unless you notice it or it happens during sex.

Honestly I have no idea.

My hymen is indestructible and has only stretched. Used to get in the way a lot more but now it doesn't bother me.
01/27/2013
Hymens dont actually break, they just stretch. I think mine had enough warm up that it didnt tear and bleed

I know I tore mine a bit once through masturbation, but it didn't really hurt. My first time having sex hurt just a bit at first, but that was more because I'm on the tighter side of things, so even with my toys I get a tiny bit of pain unless I partake of penetrative masturbation every day, which I usually don't.

What she said. Losing my virginity unprepared was one of the worst pains I've experienced. If there are any virgins reading, please DIY well before trying it with another person.

I totally did break mine. I know because I've been looking at it since I was a kid. And maybe it heals, but it doesn't fuse back together. Mine is shredded and ugly. lol

Especially because it makes a lot of women insecure about what's going on down there (Hymen restoration surgery ? Seriously ? Whoever invented that is such a huge scumbag) and it makes A LOT of virgins expect pain or bleeding, when in reality it's very easy to prepare yourself so that it won't hurt or cause any tearing, it just takes patience and some effort during foreplay.
