For instance, if you have a chest cold, do you call your GP (or Internist) or do you rely on your GYN to provide "general" health care?
Ladies, who does your general health care?

Cat E.
I only use my GYN for lady problems.

I see a GP for almost everything, including Pap tests and she will refer me on to a GYN if needed.

My PCP takes care of everything, even "female" issues.

I only use my GYN for female issues. I will call my PCD for anything else.

I see my GP for everything, even "female issues". I have not needed to be referred to a gynecologist as of yet.

I only use my GYN for female problems while I have a regular doc for my other issues.

I have my doctor, who does everything. So I guess it's a GP who does GYN.

I use my general practitioner. Honestly, I didn't even know people could use their GYN for everything. Interesting.

Other. I don't go to a gyno. My primary care doc takes care of everything. I have PMDD, but physically, everything down yonder is fine.

Doctors come and go so much here (and half of them are quacks) that we handle most things through a naturopath.

I only go to my Ob/Gyn for female issues. I have a primary care doctor, but she's always booked up. When I have a cold I usually just see whoever is available in her office.

I go to my school's health center, and they have Primary Care, Women's Health, Psychiatry, and Allergies/Immunization s as their divisions. Even if you, say, go to Primary Care first, often they'll refer you to another section anyway, so I guess I see different people for different issues.

I hate my gyno so I don't even liking seeing her for birth control but it's a necessity. I finally got a GP that I really like. Luckily I haven't been ill enough to warrant seeing him much though.
