I have a Kegels question...

Contributor: bayosgirl bayosgirl
I recently read that kegel exercises can help ease childbirth and prevent the incontinence that can happen with pregnancy. I'm 19 weeks pregnant and doing everything I can for as easy a pregnancy and delivery as possible. I went ahead and ordered a kegel exerciser; but my question is this. Excuse my ignorance... but does having sex/using toys undo the effects of kegels? Not that I would stop...and we aren't having sex that often anyway, but I want to know if I'm wasting my time and effort? Thanks.

As far as I'm aware, having sex or using toys won't undo the effects of kegels. The vagina isn't the hollow, "stretch it and it's loose forever" tube portrayed in most media - it's muscular, and any form of exercise stimulates the muscles, be it kegels or, on a lesser scale, sex or toy usage.
