Is this a hemmorhoid? TMI-don't read if easily grossed out!

Contributor: bayosgirl bayosgirl
So the last couple of days my "butt" has felt sore... I've never had a hemmorhoid before, but I heard they can be more common during pregnancy (I'm 25 weeks preg.) due to the pressure. I decided to look at the..area with a hand mirror and it did look like there was a smallish bulging protrusion coming out. Does that sound like a hemmorhoid? If so, is there any way I can help it heal faster? Thanks

That does honestly sound like a hemorrhoid. As far as healing, they do sell creams and whatnot that can help with discomfort. Just make sure you stay hydrated and eat a healthy diet to make sure your bowel movements are regular and you don't become constipated, which can put more pressure on your bowels.

If it's really uncomfortable, you can talk to your doctor about it. It's a pretty common issue and nothing to be embarassed about.

I had them while pregnant and after delivery, and it was like a small bulge, or group of bulges. It felt sort of like a tiny bunch of grapes. It felt sore, itchy and burny there. How's that for TMI!

Home remedies include aloe, ice packs or a witch hazel soaked cloth. You can also sit in a warm bath to ease them a bit.

It also helped to get those flushable wet wipes to use after going to the bathroom, because toilet paper was too rough and irritating.

Hope that helps!

Soreness + protrusion + possible bleeding during bowel movements = hemorrhoid. In addition to everything mentioned above, try adding 1 stool softener to your daily regimen, preferably at night. It can help keep things going smoothly, so you don't put any added pressure or stress on the area.

Thanks everyone! I already do drink a ton of water and eat a pretty healthy diet. I'll try sitting in a warm bath and see if that helps.

I second the witch hazel. I have had a couple in my life, I got them from being in a rush to get to work and pushing too hard on the toilet! TMI maybe

Anyways, the witch hazel works helps and so does hemorrhoid cream (ex. Preperation H)

Either way it should go away in a few more days. If it takes more than a week, maybe see the doc.

Sorry to hear that! Good luck!
