How often do you get sick?

I have gotten the flu now twice in the past few months. I have had it when I was younger but the February flu that I got was the most painful expirience of my life. Now I have something, not as painful but I developed some sort of hives on my face! I have never had this happen and Im a little freaked out. (I have to get the flu shot next year)

How often do you get the flu or a cold?

I am paranoid about being around sick people. I have multiple sclerosis (MS) so my immune system is compromised already. Before I was diagnosed, I taught in elementary school, and I was always sick. I'd have a cold, get over it, and the next week I'd have tonsillitis, get over that, and have a sinus infection, get over that and end up with something else. It was ALWAYS something. I stopped working elementary and moved up to middle school and my health improved greatly. There is something to be said for not having to tie shoes, button coats, fix clothing after they go potty, and wipe noses. Even working in middle school, I still would get sick more often than I thought was normal, but not even close to how often in the other school.

Now, I work in an office setting. I have not been sick in more than 6 months knocks on wood. I hope this is a sign of better things to come.

Sorry you had to deal with all that. I work at a mall, in a store that (now since new CEO and company changes) gets flooded with children like never before. I also go to school at a community college. Those two places are breeding grounds for germs. I do need to improve my health tho(ie: vitamins, daily excerise, balanced diet) and hopefully I will get over this like you did. It just seems so bizarre for me to get the flu twice in 3 months, unless this is something different. I guess I'll find out tomorrow at the Docs.

I go through phases. years where I might get by with one cold a year. and then I'll have a year or two where I get every bug under the sun -- multiple times! 2009/2010 flu season I had it three times. NOT fun..

Last year I was sick on and off for a few months. This year I've been lucky and I was only sick once. I don't usually get sick very often, but when I do get sick, I'm usually down and out for months at a time.

Now that my son started preschool, he is bringing home all kinds of bugs and I find myself getting sick more often than in the past.

I haven't had the flu since I was a freshman in highschool and I haven't had a cold in about seven years. Before then, I was never really prone to illness of the flu/cold variety. No, instead my dumb ass was clumsy as shit and ended up with things like a broken ankle and neck. Yay! Go me!

Luckily I don't get sick nearly as much as when I was a kid. It seems like I'm hit with a bad cold once every few years.

Honestly, not that often. But this last fall was a doozy. I had bronchitis/pneumonia for 5 months to the point of thinking it was normal! Finally go the meds I needed though.

I've been lucky enough to dodge ever getting the flu, but I do go through several rounds of colds/stomach bugs through the year.

Between my classes, my nephews, and my mom teaching, I pretty much get exposed to any illness being passed around at the time.

Getting the flu and colds are like clockwork for me. Every year, I get the fall/winter flu, and the spring flu, and a winter cold, and a spring cold. My immune system is awful, and I'm taking immuno-suppressants (which just make it even worse). Don't even get me started on strep throat and sinus infections.

I never used to get sick, ever and still only every few years with a cold or flu. I dose myself with garlic and horseradish pills whenever anyone around me is sick. Could just be a placebo but it works for me.

I get a cold at least once a year but only get the flu every other year. I am VERY lucky in that I don't get sick often.

Since I got my tonsils out about 8 years ago I hadn't really had anything except some minor colds, but I got hit really hard this year. I've had the flu, a sinus infection, and a horrible head cold with an ear infection all in a 3 month span. I'm hoping this means I will be extra healthy the rest of the year.
