7 years, I have the Mirena IUD. I love it, don't have to worry about it except every 5 years. Also lucky and have no menstrual bleeding on it.

1.5 years, the implant. Loving the lighter and less frequent periods. They're not so random now which is good, and I only have to worry about birth control every 3 years.

I've been on birth control for 5 years I think. I've been on the combined pill but then they switched me to a mini pill because my blood pressure was going sky-high. It's been alright but I've had my fair share of issues. I'd rather have a period than no period at all because it reassures me that I'm not pregnant, you know?

I've been on various formulations of the pill for about 16 years. I love it, it allows me to function normally and not be debilitated by horrible periods. I have been on continuous birth control for about the past 6 years or so. I love that even more than the monthly pill packs!
I had to go off it for a few months in there at one point when my insurance changed (and my former OB/GYN refused to see me when I showed up for my yearly exam) and my horrible periods came right back with a vengeance. I quickly found a new (and much better) OB/GYN and immediately got on the continuous BC... and never looked back!
In my case, she told me it will be safe for me to stay on it right up to menopause. That was a big relief for me!

I'm been on Microgestin for almost a year now.
I LOVE the fact that my periods are MUCH lighter and shorter, but I strongly dislike the fact that I'm still spotting. Hopefully that will end soon or I'll have to mess with my prescription, because it's getting old.

Was on and off the Pill between the ages of twenty-three and thirty-three - mainly to deal with my PMDD and awful menstrual things. I had my tubes tied last year and my periods had settled down and become normal (save for variations on cycle-length) since then. I haven't had a chance to test out "birth control-free sex", but I'm not in any hurry at the moment.

I was on ortho tri-cyclin for 3 months. The nausea kept getting worse and worse. If I wasn't in health insurance limbo I'd get a perscription for another brand.

Hmmm...6 years?

About 7-8 years on Gianvi bc pills and I love it. I don't get mood swings or have break outs all over my face while using it.

I was on the pill on and off since I was 12. Until last month. I went and switched to the patch. So far I love it. I didn't think I would be much different from the pill, but it's so much more worry free.

There are other forms of Birth Control besides the pill. If something is used to prevent pregnancy it's birth control. Everything from the IUD, to condoms, to the diaphragm, to cervical caps, to sterilization, to Depo Provera, to the Patch, to spermicides etc. They are ALL "Birth Control."
I've used some form of birth control or an other since the first time I had sex, with the exception of when my children were conceived. I've used; spermicidal foam, a diaphragm, condoms, the Pill, Depo Provera, a cervical cap, withdrawal, Natural Family Planning, Ecological Breastfeeding, and more.
We NEED to get away from the misconception that ONLY "The Pill" is "Birth Control."
It if is used to prevent pregnancy it is ALL Birth Control!

Pill for 12 years and just got the IUD. I love the IUD, I am less emotional, less head aches (literally), no need to remember. I heart my IUD

I got my Paragard 4 months ago, and it hasn't caused me much trouble!

In that case, I've been on birth control for about 8 months. Hooray for condoms.

I was on the pill from 19-27, when I got my Mirena. I had it swapped out 2 years ago, and I just had it removed last Friday, because it's kind of now or never if we want to have kids. My periods were always erratic before I went on the pill, and I'm afraid that's how it's going to be now, but I guess there's really no way of knowing. I loved having the Mirena and no periods. The only side effect (I think) I experienced was some terrible facial hair, but nothing Nair couldn't handle

I never had good experiences with the pill. I've been on Nuva Ring and liked it, but can't use it long term while overseas. I've had my Mirena IUD for 2 months now. Finally stopped bleeding last week.

On and off for about 8 years. I love it when I find one that works, and I hate it when I don't. I love NOT having to use a condom, because sometimes it annoys me when getting hot and heavy and we have to stop. hahaha
