I've found that getting hiccups right before being intimate is really counter predictive to the pleasure you want to receive. How do you get rid of the hiccups when necessary? I drink a glass of water bending at the waist and drinking the glass of water upside down over the roof of my mouth. How about you? How do your relieve the hiccups?
Hiccups and how they can ruin your sex life.

Regardless of the situation I just wait for them to pass. I haven't found any 'cure' to be effective in expediting their end.

My method for getting rid of them is a simple breathing rhythm - I figured it out after learning that hiccups are caused by convulsions in the diaphragm. Basically I just keep breathing in and out at about two-second intervals (in for 2 seconds, out for 2 seconds, repeat) and keep it shallow, but relaxed. It helps to sit up straight (or stop walking if you're up and about)... hehe it sounds kind of like I'm just saying "breathe normally," but it's not quite the same.
It works instantly for me. As soon as I sit still and start breathing this way, I stop hiccuping (might be one or two left at the most). In the seven years I've used this method, it's failed once, and even then they still stopped a lot faster than if I'd let them go.

Thanks! I'll try this, water isn't always available to do the trick for me and I like the fact you provided an explanation on how they're caused.
