Has Anyone on EF ever used a Moon Cup/Diva Cup?

Contributor: Sweet-Justice Sweet-Justice
I'm interested in using one just to see if it would help with my sever cramps and also because tampons are damn expensive. I'm a heavy bleeder though so I wonder if its worth it.
Does it hold allot more then it seems? Can you feel when its full? Is it hard to get used to?

I just received my Diva Cup and haven't tried it yet. I will let you know once I've tried it. So far, everyone I've heard from that has tried them just raves about them. Actually, from what I've read it sounds like they are perfect for women with a heavy flow and severe cramps, and they can apparently make periods much easier and more comfortable for a lot of women. So, fingers crossed!

No, I've never been brave enough to try those out. I'll stick to my tampons, thank you. LOL!

Oh thank you! I would love to hear how it works for you(if that doesn't sound too weird XD ) when you've had a chance to use it.
I've been reading up on them and people seem to LOVE them...I just wonder if they would hold a decent amount or if I would be running to the rest room every 30 minutes.

I have and love my Diva cup! I have been using mine for close to 4 years now.

It doesn't seem to help my cramps at all. I'm rather heavy in the first few days and I only find it needs to be emptied about 3 - 4 times a day. But over night, I either have to wear a pad (which I hate) as well or wake up early hrs to empty. Other wise, when I move in the morning, it will tend to leak.

They are an awesome investment and save ya sooooooooooooooo much money. I could never go back to other methods!

They can take a little getting use to - as in getting them in place correctly. So at first you may want to wear a pad for added protection until you get to know when it's perfectly in place. Some find that frustrating but it's like a lot of things, once ya get the technique right, it's superb.

Apparently some people find the cups lessen their flow and have shortened the length. I haven't been lucky on either of those. But I find I'm not quite as miserable as I was with other methods. Plus there's no risk of TSS. It's a very clean way to go and nothing (as in trash) to dispose of.

I use the Lunette cup made in Finland. I got mine off LuneShop.com about 28.00$. I had serve cramps with pads and tampons, but I did notice when I switched my cramps where hardly noticeable. There's several menstrual cup brands to choose from and all having different capacity. If your a heavy bleeder I might suggest the Lunette cup or Fluercup you can find these on femininewear.co.uk they have a converter on the side of there web page for United States Dollars. But I got most of my cups from there. I had two cups before my Lunette. I have tried the Diva cup, that was okay but I needed a more capacity. I emptied it about every 3 hrs on heavy days.

Also, To me yeah you can feel when it gets full and needs to be emptied but even if you don't change it in time all you need is a pantyliner it doesn't leave a huge mess. I noticed with my heavy flow the max it need to be emptied is about every 4-8 hrs- on light days its every 12hrs.

it took me about 4 cycles to get used to it, and properly inserting it, I found waterbased lubes help tremendously.

I haven't used the diva cup, but I have used the Insteads, it's the same thing, but it's disposible, so you don't have to worry about cleaning it out, just dump and throw away. I LOVE them and they are simple to put in and take out.

I'm interested in trying a Lunette cup cause I want more capacity for over night. I hate having to break sleep to empty

Might get one of those very soon!

EEP! You have to wake yourself to empty it? I have been thinking about getting a diva cup.. but the chances of me willingly getting up are slim to none.

I always find these threads on the Diva Cups (there are MANY) interesting. I remember years ago I was on a Mommy forum and a girl was using reusable pads and a diva cup and was saying how her flow was lighter. I was blown away. Makes you wonder just WHAT is in those pads and tampons that increase the length of the flow eh

I've heard all sorts of good about the Diva Cups and am thinking about getting one. Did it take anybody else more than one cycle to figure out how to place it properly?

Well I did my first trial run with my Diva Cup today. (They recommend practicing with it before your period.) It is quite easy to insert, and it really just pops into place – kind of amazing. The first time I inserted it, it didn’t open all the way though, I wasn’t expecting it to just pop into place so quickly and easily! So I took it out and inserted it again. This time, I was careful to go much slower, and kind of twisted it back and forth so it would insert. I could tell when it opened all the way (you kind of fold it up on itself to make it smaller to insert) and it created suction. I could tell it was open and had created the suction, because when I tried to push it out, it was much more difficult. So I just used a finger to push in on the side of the cup to break the suction seal, and then it came out very nicely.

I plan to definitely still wear at least a pantyliner when I use it during my period for the first time, just in case I don’t make a perfect seal, or if it isn’t in just the right spot. For now I can say it inserts VERY easily, and once it was in I couldn’t feel it at ALL. My period isn’t for a few more weeks, but I’ll let you know how it goes! I feel pretty good about it, and I expect to be really happy with it.

I'm on day 3 of my period and have been using my Diva Cup the whole time. My verdict? I freaking LOVE this thing!!! The trial run I did several weeks ago also paid off. I have been able to insert the cup easily, and it has not leaked. I will say that for the first 30 minutes or so when I first insert it, a little blood does come out. It isn't technically a leak though - because it's just whatever blood was already in the canal and beneath the cup. So it has to come out. I'm finding the cup itself VERY comfortable, easy to insert and remove, and quite effective. It's very clean, super convenient, very comfortable and I told my man last night it's almost like I'm not even on my period! I wish I would have switched a long time ago. I don't think it would work perfectly for everyone, but it sure works great for me. I've not had any problems with it.

I swear by my Diva Cup. I suffer from Pelvic Congestion Syndrome, and my cramps have actually been bad enough to cause me to pass out. While the Diva Cup obviously doesn't take them away completely, it does lessen them enough for me to be a functioning human being.

Besides that, they hold quite a large amount. I've been using mine for about 4 years now and have never had any problems with leakage.
