Experiment a Failure... Or would it be a Success?

After reading yet another debate about shaving pubic hair versus leaving it there, I decided to grow mine back out to see how I felt about it. I started shaving it because it irritated me, and I found that the irritation hasn't changed. I found having pubic hair caused me to itch, reduced the amount of sensation I felt on my outer labia, made grooming less convenient, and caused me to develop more of a scent than I usually would if I sweated even a little. However, it did prevent chafing somewhat and protect the skin. In the end, I couldn't go another day with it there and shaved it again. Although I did take the opportunity to switch my landing strip for a fun new shape, which was actually a bit of a liberating experience. Creative grooming is fun.

So, have you ever changed up how you keep your pubic hair just to try out other options? Did you like or hate the change? Did it become a permanent change or did you go back to your old style? What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages to your style of choice?

How long did you grow it out ?

Mine went through itching, but once you grow it out all the way and the ends soften, it doesn't itch any more.

I'm keeping the hair because I like the way it looks. *shrug*

I grew it out long enough for it to reach the full length it was before I first shaved it. I remember it itching before I started shaving it, too, which was the initial reason I started. I guess mine is just particularly coarse.

I like how mine looks both ways, but it feels better to me without. Also, I have what's left shaved into a heart, so I'm enjoying the novelty of that for a while.

Hmm, yeah, maybe it's just different hair textures. The hair on my head is quite "fine" in texture, I don't know if maybe the hair down there is, too.

Or maybe just anatomy differences. I suppose a lot of things could have an effect on it.

For me it itched for the first .5" or so, growing it out, but not after that.

LOL It's funny you said this! I did do this once. It was about a year ago. My boyfriend started growing this god awful facial hair style. It was by accident but then it turned into a stubborn..."I' ;ll shave it later" thing. So it turned into a joke. I said I'd grow out my pubic hair until he cut his facial hair. It was sort of fun. He never has a beard and I never have facial hair. I sort of caved though because I kept trimming. I couldn't just let it grow all out and wild. Mine turned into a short thick landing strip. I have light hair so it wasn't even impressive. It was a bit odd, though! I could have lived with the way I ended up having it because I also shaved below it so it wasn't on the labia, but in the end, I'm happy I have a bald pussy 24/7. I prefer it that way. I only kept it for like 2 weeks. It also didn't bother my boyfriend because I trimmed it the way I did.

Also, I did notice that mine didn't seem to want to grow much at all anyways. I don't think I could produce a bush if my life depended on it. It seemed to cap out at around 1/4" if that.

I trim my pubic hair - I tried shaving it once and really didn't like it. I let it grow out until it gets itchy (for me, it gets itchy when it gets longish) then trim it with scissors.

I want to try dying it sometime for fun, I hear pubic hair dyes exist.

I can't shave, because of 2 major things. It itches when it starts to grow back ( I mean itching like if you saw me you'd think I had crabs down there) and it causes ingrown hairs. Now I occasionally get them even if I don't shave but I get tons if I shave. I try and keep it trimmed. He would like it shaved but his hair rubs me raw and I just feel icky.

I only care about getting rid of it ALL permanantly. I don't have time for shapes and cute things. I just want it gone. From the time I had hairs I started shaving and the only time I didn't was 2 times when I got a skinny landing strip. Now, I've been sugaring and plucking and using an inhibitor since last summer. It is one hell of a process, but I absolutely hate hair. I have quit shaving since I started the treatments and lately have been desperate and don't have time for sugaring every 5 days and plucking every single day so I've considered shaving again. I tried it on my bikini line instead of sugaring last week and had a terrible itch so I'm terrified to start shaving everything again! I didn't ever stop shaving through my teen years. I think my next option is an epilator, but I'M NOT sure if those will get any more hair out than stupid sugaring. A very frustrating thing!

Have you considered laser hair removal? I've actually been considering it although I'm sure they'd think me weird for wanting a single random shape left there. (Maybe a star?) I don't particularly like how my own body looks with nothing there at all, but I can definitely understand the urge to shave it all.

When I had pubic hair, it was super long and fro-tastic. It got caught in EVERYTHING and if I trimmed it to stop the "catching", it just got spiky and uncomfortable. I decided at some point to just shave it off and I have never looked back. I really like the "breezy" feeling of air on my skin, too, so added bonus!
