Do you wax your pubic hair?

Contributor: hybridinsurge hybridinsurge
I am wondering what it might be like to have my pubic hair waxed. Currently, I shave it off.

How many of you wax? Is it worth the pain and the cost? How much trouble do you have with ingrown hairs?

Nope. I don't like wax. It's way too messy.

After trying it on my legs once, I decided that I wasn't brave enough to try it anywhere else!

I've never had a professinal wax. I tried doing it myself, but it didn't work very well. I used an epilator for about a year, then decided it wasn't worth the pain. Now I stick to shaving.

Usually I shave, but every so often I'll have it all waxed

Actually, I just waxed last night. It was horribly painful, but I already get razor burn and ingrown hairs with shaving, so I thought I would give it a try. It stopped hurting after a few minutes, and there are several things to help with the pain, like a mild numbing spray, taking an ibuprofen before hand, and not waxing the week before your period... all of which I neglected to remember last night. I'm thinking it was worth it to get the most of the hair since I hate shaving with a passion.

Voted for my partner. Doesn't like the process, but the results, to her, seem worth it.

I've never tried waxing because of how painful it looks, but I've heard good things from my friends. They say it lasts longer and there are less ingrown hairs.

It's been over a year since I waxed, but I have tried a few different kinds. I only did it at home though and hated it! I then switched to sugar and it wasn't good at all. Messy, time consuming and hardly worked. I finally invested in a good epilator and haven't put a razor to my privates ever since! I love it. No need for a razor or that crappy wax & sugaring. I have also used every depilatory drugstores carry. Actually got a horrendous vagina burn from it. Disgusting! My cooter looked horrible. It was all brown and oozing stuff on top for days. I never touched that crap again!

That was NOT the case with me. I actually developed far more ingrowns than ever with shaving and my hairs always grew back just as quickly as shaving.

I have only had it done once, and it is worth it. Go to a professional, a full brazillian takes around 10 minutes. It is completely smooth and the hair takes a lot longer to grow back. Waxing is so much better than shaving!

First off, I'm a guy. I LOVE full waxing, but I do it at home and it is a big job. Lately I have started epilating which is much more convenient, but MUCH more painful! If I had the money to have the waxing done for me whenever I needed it done then that's what I would ALWAYS do.

That was my experience, too. I'm told that it's because it was the first time I ever waxed...

At first, I really enjoyed the way the results from the waxing felt/looked, but within 3 days, I had more in grown hairs than I could count. I have decided that I am going to try it again, but I'm going to do it at home... I just can't see paying 60+ for it.

I do a full Brazilian at home and have maintained it for awhile now. I love it!!!!! I do mine with Veet ready to use wax strips (the leg and body ones). They are so easy, NOT painful, and it lasts without bumps, etc., MUCH better than shaving!!!

Eventually I am going to go get electrolysis, and go permanently hairless down there.

Wow, that's hardcore! But I'm with you on hating shaving. I get ingrowns like crazy. Do you notice ingrown hairs coming in a while after you wax?

That's awful! I'm afraid to use depilatories due to my sensitive skin but an epilator is a neat idea. I'd never considered using one on pubic hair.

We (hubs and I) did it on me a few times, but not on the labia. It was horrible and I hated it. We did it maybe three or four times before we gave up. Too many ingrown hairs, too much pain. But I can't shave there either due to so much irritation. I just trim now.

I tried doing it myself, and it worked, but was painful. I don't have the courage to get it professionally done. I shave.
