Disposable vs reusable what would you use?

Contributor: momma22js momma22js
So recently someone has told me about the reusable diva cup and reusable pads. I am not really sure what to make of these what do you ladies think?

I was torn between the two last answers. I have never tried them, and I'd consider trying them, but I'm not too sure yet.

I've used them, but I don't LOVE them. They're fine, and better for the environment, which I like.

I've never tried and i chose that i "want to" even though it's more like i would, but i wouldn't go out of my way or anything. i don't want to that bad.

I'd be interested in trying the cups but not the pad.

I used a diva cup for months but eventually stopped using it because it always gave me bad cramps towards the end of my period.

I'd be interested in trying them because they are better for the environment, but I honestly have no desire to deal with the cleaning them part.

Use them, love them. I no longer get the sever irritation I used to get from pads. And they're so comfortable it's easy to forget you're wearing them.

Edit: I use the lunette cup, though, not the diva.

They seem popular here, but the concept of CLEAN and GONE, works for me. TOO many chances for illness with things staying in the body, or being put back in during menstruation.

Also, while I'm thinking about it, Party in My Pants cloth pads has an offer where you can get a free cloth pad to try.

I use a Diva Cup and like it quite a bit. It's a little more annoying to put in properly than a tampon, but in the end it's worth it.

used them and hated them only because i always felt like i was having an accident with the reusable pads because being cloth, its just an odd feeling

Would never use them. My twin sister did and all the females in our family have SERIOUS menstrual flows so they're not something we can use well. For one, she said no matter what it would get too full and spill out. EW! I don't have time to deal with a mess like that. I don't think theres anything wrong with using disposable if you can't comfortably use those cups. I mean, we can't help having a period. We shouldn't have to suffer even more for it. I take an injection for endometriosis which stops my period so I've not had much of one in 7 years except the 2 pregnancies and for some crazy reason last month I had a 7 day long, non stop HEAVY one which hasn't happened since I've been on my injection. It was so weird! I've always had super heavy periods so nearly all the females in my family have already gotten something done about theirs, surgeries, etc.

I use a Diva cup and love it! I'd never go back to pads and tampons are totally out for me.
The Diva cup is just a whole lot cleaner than pads - ya just feel more comfy and fresh!

Ive used the disposable menstrual cups, but my period has stopped for the most part that I didn't want to invest in the diva cup. I loved the cups much more than tampons or pads

Reusable pads = a million times better than disposable. I recommend lunapads. I actually promoted their company for a long time.

Menstrual Cups = AWESOME OMGSH AWESOME. I loved using my Lunette cup, and recently had to stop because I got an IUD placed. I am so pissed because now I've had to use pads again. Although reusable are much better, I don't prefer pads and tampons just gross me out.

:/

I love my Diva cup... LOVE it

If we had a washer/dryer in our apartment I would probably invest/make some reusable pads, but with having to go to the laundry mat Im no so comfortable with that idea lol.

I have an IUD and I'm able to use my Lunette just fine. I had my strings shortened because I was nervous about it (which was actually a mistake cos they've retracted completely but the doctor says it's ok) but as long as you're likely not to expel your IUD in the first place, you should be good! If you're already familiar with using menstrual cups this should be a lot easier too.

I haven't used the Diva Cup or Moon Cup but I would like to try at least once since I have a very heavy flow and its supposed to be good for that.

I'd love to be able to use them, but they're not available in my country, and I can't import them because that kind of stuff has trouble making it through customs (prtobably the reason I can't get them in my country in the first place).

I was thinking of making my own reusable pads; I figure they can't be that hard to make.
