condom protection question

Has anyone ever gotten pregnant even though you used a condom for protection? No other form of birth control just condoms.

I never have, but I know plenty of people who have. The only 100% is abstinence. You can be safe, but you can't be certain. I've even known people who've gotten sterilized and gotten pregnant. You just never know.

Disclaimer: I'm not touting abstinence or suggesting that anyone be abstinent. Everyone here should be over 18 and all are able to make these decisions for themselves.

Like BBW said, I haven't, but I know people who have. Condoms can break, and if they aren't used correctly they aren't quite as effective either.

I'm with BBW and indiglo.

I've never gotten pregnant despite using a condom (mostly because, I haven't used them since I was about 16, and hated them even back then) but several friends HAVE. I had one friend who used condoms, another contraceptive, and was on the pill and STILL managed to end up pregnant!

No, but I do know of those who have had. I'm echoing BBW on this one; abstinence is technically your best bet, but I do the next best thing by combining the Pill and condoms to avoid accidents.

I'll echo BBW too. I know people who have gotten pregnant with condoms, but it hasn't happened to me.

My sister did get pregnant using condom, but if you use them correctly you should have no issues, but it is best to use more than one form at the same time, if you want to protect yourself from not getting pregnant.

I got pregnant on hormonal birth control (with no interference from antibiotics and no missed pills) AND using a condom (which was used properly, even when used properly, they're only 97 or 98 percent effective) that showed no breakage whatsoever. Talk about the breaking the odds! It's rare but it does happen.

I was 18 and the pregnancy ended up not being viable, which is ok by me because the timing was entirely wrong for my life.

Thank you! Either way it will be ok.

Oh! Sorry.

Yes it's possible, and you should talk to Planned Parenthood. They would likely do a free pregnancy screening and be able to outline your options. Good luck whatever happens!
