I measure every couple months, so I know. I wish my boobs would ninja-sprout though...maybe I should stop paying attention to them, just so they have their chance.
or just gain 15 lbs like i did... then you'll be pissed because you go up 2 pants sizes and none of your pants fit. it's a delicate balance.
Ugh, bras drive me crazy! I feel like the style of bra, the padding, and the brand really change what fits me and what doesn't. I currently have a VS bra that's a 34D that fits, but I have one that's a 34C also from VS that fits like a dream.
you know, as someone who's had tiny boobs all her life, and not worn a bra for most of it, i really didnt even consider this.
good to know that bras are as hard to fit as a pair o jeans!

How to measure and fit a bra in three easy steps
STEP 1: Measure for band size:
How to Measure Bra Band Size Keeping the measuring tape parallel with the ground, measure around your bra directly under your bust after expelling all air from your lungs - you want this measurement to be as small as possible. Round all fractional measurements to the nearest whole number.
If the measurement is even, add 4" If the measurement is odd, add 5"
STEP 2: Measure for cup size:
How to Measure Bra Cup Size Standing straight, with your arms at your side, measure at the fullest part of your bust (while wearing a non-padded bra) making sure the measuring tape is parallel with the ground and not binding. Round all fractional measurements to the nearest whole number.

STEP 3: *Calculate your bra size:
Subtract your band measurement (step 1) from your cup measurement (step 2). Generally, for each inch in difference, the cup goes up by one size. See the cup size conversion chart here.
Example: Step 1: 34" under measurement +4" = 38" band Step 2: 40" over measurement Step 3: 40" - 38" = 2" or Cup "B" Your size would be 38B
If The Difference Is: Your Standard Cup Size Is: 0"-1/2" (1.3 cm) AA 1/2"- 1" (2.6 cm) A 2" (5.1 cm) B 3" (7.6 cm) C 4" (10.2 cm) D 5" (12.7 cm) DD * or E * 6" (15.2 cm) DDD * or F * 7" (17.8 cm) G * 8" (20.3 cm) H * 9" (22.9 cm) I * 10" (25.4 cm) J *
*Important Note: this measuring system tends to become less accurate as the cup sizes go above a D. Additionally, some manufacturers name larger cup sizes differently.

I measure using this for myself. I am 40-42 DDD or F.
I have never actually been fitted for a bra. I don't recall ever living in an area where there were places that offered this. Its nice to know I could actually do this myself. I need to get a measuring tape and try it. I just always wore what was comfortable for me, right now that happens to be a 44D. I never had real boobage until I started college and I always wanted big ones.. Now I would be so happy if I were back to my college size of 36B...I miss my small boobies.
Haha, I get measured all the time because your size can change for any number of reasons. Birth control, weight gain/loss, anything! I love shopping for new ones every six months or so. American Eagle's lingerie department, Aerie, has great deals on all the time so it's actually not that expensive.
I think I subconsciously know that I should be a 36 but keep buying 34 and not being entirely comfortable. I should probably just admit the truth to myself!

Bra measuring isn't universal. Manufacturers use very different sizing and some have proprietary measurements, basically.
i heard some probably made-up statistic the other day, that something like 90% of women are wearing the wrong bra size. take that with a grain of salt.

B CUP!
holy fuck! the gal that was made SO much fun of in school for being flat as a board is a fucking B cup.
i had no idea how a bra was supposed to fit. like, apparently it's supposed to cover your entire boob or something. the whole thing. side boob and all. i just thought, my boobs are small. i'm an a-cup.
but NO!
are you sure you know your bra size? have you been fitted in the last six months? the gals at 'vicki's' say that's the only way to know...
so, are you sure?

My girlfriend used to get her measurements at Victoria's Secret, they would tell her she has DD breasts because the that's the biggest cup size they carry. She continuously worn the wrong size for years before going to a higher end department store, where she found out she should be wearing DDDD cups.
I'd recommend going to a higher end store than VS, Nordstrom and Bloomingdales have way better bra fitting specialists than VS.

I am not sure because with breastfeeding my breast size fluctuates each day But i believe i'm around a C or even D if i'm engorged. Before having children i was around a B i believe.
But there's more to bra than just cup size, the band size matter too.
I wear a DD, but I've been told I'm an H. That to me seems incredibly silly, as spillage isn't really a problem for me. And since H's are never sold in stores, I can never try one on to see if that's an opeion for me.
I have no idea, finding this out has been quite the battle.
I got measured, 34 C, so I bought a few bras in that size, and I was falling out of them the moment I moved. Every measurement I get says 34 C, but they never actually fit, 36 C fits, but is a bit loose in the top.

Lol, if I follow this verbatim, I end up with 42AA, and THAT ain't right.
(Underbust = 37". Add 5" since it's odd. Get 42". Total bust measurement = 42". 42 - 42 = 0 [AA])
Just jacked this pic from my last review. AA, really?
I think I fall under 'other', I believe that I'm a 38D but the woman at Victoria's Secret told me I'm a 36DD . I have a hard time believe that though. Yes I fit their bra in that size but every other brand I'm swimming in cup and the band feels ok but isn't very comfortable. I might get it remeasured somewhere else but right now I've found a brand/bra that I love and don't really care what the 'experts' think.

I try to go to a department store to get new bras with the help of a bra specialist every few months. Yes, you can measure your size at home, but every style/brand fits differently. I am a 32(6D) for some styles of Freya 34(6d) for other styles, 34 (5D) for most of Chantelle, and 34(4d) for Wacoal.

thank you for this! now I need to go pick up a tape measure
It is hard to find my size in stores, being a F38-40. I went to a bra fitting clinic and was told what I already knew. I can sometimes squeeze into DDD-E 38-40.
I'm convinced I don't know my size. For a while I was a 34B at Gap. Then those felt too small and the underwire was giving me bruises. Went to Victoria's Secret and they measured me at a 34B. Those bras end up feeling a bit too loose and there's weird extra space in my cups most of the time.
I've given up for now and got some Hanes "small" size bras with no underwire from WalMart. I'm sick of not having proper-fitting bras.
I've been wearing a 36B for as long as I can remember. Seeing as my bras are fitting less and less (boobs tend to change after kids, you know), I'm going to guess that it's not totally accurate. One of these days I'll get fitted.
