We have all heard the warnings. SO...what are the real stats? Anal to Vaginal contamination. Has it ever happened to you?

Contributor: Bignuf Bignuf
I have heard the warnings for years. Everything from being careful when wiping when I was young, to NEVER, EVER having anything (toy, finger, penis) near my anus and then my vagina without being carefully cleaned between. You have all heard it too. However, I have never met, heard of nor know ANYONE that has suffered "cross contamination".

Please,if you have, SHARE your story to educate us. Have you ever had a toy, finger, penis, tongue...anything, that was in your anus and then ended up in or on your vagina and it caused you a problem? What happened and how long did it take before you KNEW you had a problem? How was it resolved?

Thanks for any honest stories we can ALL learn from.

I don't have personal stories, but the threat of cross contamination is there.

The vagina is a pretty tough organ, but you can experience micro tears from sex, even if you don't feel it (or other activities). These are the areas where microbes and other nasties can enter your blood stream and infect you.

So, if you have a micro tear and bacteria from your anus gets near by, it could be a recipe for disaster. Also, bacteria in your gut react much differently than when they end up in other places of your body.

Then you have the chance of bacterial and yeast infections if the bacteria like your vagina in general.

Just putting out the PSA

I've never had anything bad happen, thankfully.

I normally avoid "cross contamination" but once when I'd had a few drinks I forgot about it and we went from anal sex to vaginal without cleaning off and I didn't get an infection or any other negative effects

I'm too paranoid and careful to have a personal story, but the science is sound. While you might get lucky, it's not worth the risk.

Never had an issue, although it's not like we do that all the time.

I've had no issues, though I've only gone from anal to vaginal twice (we were really into it and didn't want to stop!) It's not a good idea, though. Even if 90% of the time nothing will happen, it certainly could happen. Nobody wants an infection down there.

It's accidentally happened only once or twice, mostly when we were younger and would miss; "that's your anus? Oh whoops"

Thankfully, I've never had it happen to me personally and it has not happened to my husband. So we both are lucky!

Practically speaking it is never advisable to go ass to mouth, ass to vag or any of the other combinations.

Enemas (preferably with antibacterial properties) are the advisable method.

The most common risk I have had to deal with is Bacterial vaginosis from an E. Coli infection.
