Do you always take your batteries out?

Contributor: LavenderSkies LavenderSkies
Sometimes I find that I forget to take them out- this happens regularly. How will these effect my toys? Does it really actually make a difference?

It doesn't make a devastating difference, but it can slowly wear the batteries down even if the toy is off. It only uses a fraction of the battery's life, but still, a fraction is still something. I would take the batteries out if you aren't planning on using the toy for long periods of time though. If you let the batteries just sit in the toy, and the temperature, humidity, or tons of different factors change, the batteries can explode (not like BOOM!!!!!!!, just open slightly and the acid can get all over the battery compartment and render your toy useless.) So just to be on the safe side, I would take the batteries out if you aren't going to use your toy for a week. Hope this helps!

I leave them in a couple of toys that I use on a regular basis but take them out of the ones I only use occasionally. Most of my toys are rechargeable though. I haven't had any problems with leaving them in yet.

If left in for a long period of time they will corrode the contacs.Just like the flashlight you bring out once every two years when you really need it.

I usually take the batteries out, however I have one bullet that I use very often, so I leave the batteries in that on so I dont have to hunt for them.

I always, always, always take the batteries out. But, then again, I try to do anything I can to extend the life of my beloved toys. (And, the rechargeable toys give me a nice break from taking out batteries! lol)

I always take them out. I've never forgotten, it's such a waste and can damage the toy.

I leave them in my cheap toys that I don't really care about, but my more expensive toys are rechargeable... or I would.. so...

No?

He: It's like a Gameboy. Just don't leave them in for months without use or the batteries will get leaky.

She: Probably not a big issue if the batteries are in your sex toys and not in your ancient gaming device.

He: AC power or nothing!

I tend to leave them in my favorite toys, even though I know I should take them out. But I use my favorites quite often, so I don't worry about those too much.

I tend to leave them in. Although I've had a few batteries die on me without the toy being turned on, I don't do too much about it. If its a toy I don't use very often, I turn the batteries upside down, so the toy won't work.

I'm 50/50 on this one. I find that I rarely take them out of the toys that get used often. On the flip side, if I have put them in a more infrequently used toy I find they get taken out pretty quickly when I go to grab an old favorite.

I always take them out, don't want to get battery acid everywhere.

I should but I don't. I've stopped spending money on stuff that uses batteries, though, and buy only rechargeable or plug-in. All of my battery-powered toys are fairly old and I only really still use one of them.

And forget to take the batteries out.

I forget. I just found one of my old favorite toys from like four years ago. Ruined because of batteries.

I always take the batteries out since I had one leak and ruin a 150.00 vibrator a few years ago.

When I had battery toys, I did at first. Then I got lazy and left them in, it really seemed to depend on the toy whether or not leaving the batteries in would effect the life of the batteries.

I take out batteries to recharge them and when cleaning toys, so I figure they get taken out enough to avoid damage. I prefer not to fumble with batteries in the dark when reaching for my more often used vibes.

I leave them in the toys I don't like as much! The opposite of most posters!

how can you say that "rendering a toy useless" is not "devastating?" it would certainly be devestating to me! especially if it was a favoured toy! i take them out whenever i remember.

The only batteries I don't take out are watch batteries, as they are so hard to keep track of. Plus I have two nosy dogs...they don't need watch batteries in their bellies!

If the toy runs on batteries, I make sure to take them out. I used to leave them in, but then one of my favorite vibes ended up having corroded contact points, and ended just dying on me mid use, and I couldn't revive it. Now I always remove them.
