Read this. Companies sell dangerous things in food, medical products, and many other items all the time. Lead used to be in children's toys before regulation. Since there is no regulation on sex toys, they can pretty much sell cancer in the form of a dick if they want. Cigarettes are dangerous, as is alcohol. That's sold.

Just because something is for sale NEVER means it's safe. That's why it's important to be an informed consumer rather than rely on government regulations to determine when something is or isn't safe. If you then still choose to use said unsafe item, well then that's on you.

Generally unsafe options are cheaper and easier than the alternative. Thus, many companies will take the cheap route unless told to do otherwise. Jelly toys exist because they are cheap and people will buy them because of this. Some may know the risks, but many probably don't. If you know the risks and still think it's more important to only spend $15 on a toy rather than $50, well that's a personal decision.

Of course they would, it's cheap and it makes the company money. There's tons of unsafe things being sold all over the place. However, there are safER ways to use jelly toys if that's what you choose. Like condoms, not sharing between partners and thorough washings. Jelly toys do not last as long as other materials and should probably be replaced after a certain time because you can never get them totally clean.

Here's an article you may find interesting; I do believe the blogger is actually a contributor here on EF

The "5 Founding" companies don't care about our health...they care about the almighty dollar. Until people are routinely taken to the hospital and/or suing a manufacturer because the chemicals in their sex toys cause cancer, chemical burns or what not, changes will not happen.

The things found in sex toys are ridiculous. Cadmium is one. Forget phthalates, the Danish found toys with Cadmium in it. Environmental hazard and blamed for Van Gogh going insane and cutting off his ear

Not only are companies making jelly sex toys that can cause chemical burns and other bad shit, there's no regulation and no way for us to know if they're telling the truth when they say that their "jelly" dildo is "body safe and phthalate free". After all, they can say something is merely "silicone" if it contains only 10% silicone....90% could be whatever other shit they want and it doesn't matter. We won't know because we don't have labs and we trust these people.

Only trust smaller companies that have been proven reputable by veteran bloggers & reviewers.

And yes, that link is mine and I'm a contributor here. One of the articles I'm most proud of writing. If it's changed the minds of even just 100 people, I'm happy.

I'd rather changes 100's of thousands of minds but hey. Not gonna happen.

Jelly toys no matter the brand name or 'type' cause rashes for me and nasty irritation not to mention BV flairs. I have yet to tyr a jelly toy that didn't cause these things so ya they aren't the safest nor the best. The nasty thing in my case is it will cause my HANDS to break out in hives/chemical burns so even a condom won't work for most jelly toys.
I have problems with some rubber and even vinyl toys/floggers as well.
Soft silicone can cause irritation as well for me so I am very cautious about my toys...

The ones I *used to* own caused horrible burning sensations in places that you just don't want to burn

I tossed mine, and advise everyone who asks to stay away!

Exactly - all eventually develop the burning sensation no matter how often you clean and disinfect them. Ours are all in the trash.

Sadly, companies' main priority is profit, not consumer safety.

I've only ever had one (before I had any idea about sex toys) and I found it gross, It smelled, it picked up everything, I never felt like it was clean. Thankfully I never had any burning or inflammation like other girls have reported but I'll never buy another jelly toy again.
