We don't use birth control, but when we did I was on the pill. It really changed everything about my body and I'm so glad I wised up and stopped taking it.

PARAGUARD Copper IUD for over 4 years now. I love it! I check the strings once a month to make sure it is still in place and I am good to go. It is quite affordable $300 total including insertion at my local Planned Parenthood and last for up to 15+ years (the Fda is still testing it for up to 20 years).
Let me emphasize that it is the copper Paraguard IUD that I love and not the hormonal Mirena IUD. I have know 6 people who had bad reactions to the Mirena hormonal IUD and would not suggest it to anyone.

I was on birth control, but it gave me a huge blood clot, which caused a serious heart attack at the age of 27, so no more birth control for me

I loved my Paragard too! ...then I expelled it, after having it in for three years. Apparently it's rare for that to happen, but more common in nulliparous women, so w/e, I opted to have a new one put in. Within the month, my body rejected that one as well! Hoping third time's the charm, going in for a new one next week. I hate hormonal BC so the Paragard is a godsend.

We like the pill. I would like her to try an IUD because sometimes we forget, but I know those can hurt to get put in so I'm not about to tell her to.
