the culprit might surprise you

I always thought it was my SSRI interfering with my drive. Turned out to be my birth control pills. The irony, i found myself single, went off the pill, and suddenly had my old rampant sex drive back.

Has anyone else found a cause that caught them by surprise?

My wife's sex drive improved after our second child when she had her tubes tied and went off the pill. I think it's a pretty common - if not profoundly ironic event.

Yep, birth control pills are known to mess with sex drive.

Oh science, how you do find ways to thwart our best intentions.

The same thing happened to my wife that Gunsmoke mentioned. I hadn't actually made that connection before.

I'm looking forward to her newly diagnosed thyroid problem to be taken care of to see whether that changes things positively as well.

No. I've been on some form of bc for 10 years and am horny all the time. I feel sorry for my partner if I go off it and my sex drive gets any higher.

Should help a lot - my wife is also taking thyroid medication. It took her a long time to find a doctor willing to 'optimize' her Thyroid levels - not just keep them at the lowest point of the 'normal' range.

When my wife went from sythroid to Armor Thyroid she did much better. Sythroid is just that - synthetic. Armor Thyroid is made from pig thyroids and is more efficiently used by the body than synthroid.

"traditional' docs don't want to admit sythroid is less than effective - find one who's interested in your wife's well-being not his Porsche payment.

Bet them sneaky bastards made the pills that way just to make the pills "more effective"!!
I was on them for a long time, but didn't notice a difference when I got off them.
