If you've been on The Pill, how badly was your sex drive affected?

I was on the pill for years with no ill effects, but then they started giving me migraines. So that pretty much destroyed the libido.

Before that though, I was very happy with it. And if you have bad effects, you can always stop. Good luck, whatever you decide.

I've been on 5 different pills so far and all of them have affected me differently. With two of them I had absolutely no sex drive at all. I've been on the pill so long that I'm not really sure what is normal for me, but the pill I'm on now doesn't seem to decrease my sex drive at all.

Unfortunately there isn't just one magic pill that works for everybody, it takes some time to find the pill that works for you.

It used to be really bad. I started paying attention to how and when I was taking my pill---same time everyday, what I had in my stomach and all of that stuff. I noticed that if I did not take it at exactly the same time every single day then my sex drive was definitely different.

Sometimes I wonder if there was a change, but if so it was a very slight one.

I was actually going to make some sort of post about this, but although I had NO mood changes, NO change in sexual appetite, etc., my BOYFRIEND had an allergic reaction while I was on the medication! Because it affects the hormones, and there is a change in vaginal secretions, he actually started to develop a reaction, getting sores and dried, itchy skin on his penis! As soon as I discontinued the medication and switched to the shot, no reactions! Weird :/

I've been on Necon for 3 years, but went off for several months to try the Depo shot. The shot killed my sex drive, but the pills haven't made a difference!

Wow, that is weird, I've never heard of that happening before.

My sex drive completely disappeared. I didn't even want to think about it at all, so much so that I've gone off my pills. Now it sucks because I'm choosing not to have penetrative sex, but at least I feel better.

Yeah, it was very weird, we had no clue what was going on, we thought he was having an allergic reaction to my vaginal secretions, just like sometimes women can be allergic to a certain man's sperm. Well, I switched birth control because the shot was just more convenient for me, and right after I switched he stopped reacting when we had sex...it was the weirdest thing! So then I did some research and talked to my Dr. and she said that it's actually fairly common but often misdiagnosed!

I'm glad that's all it was though

My sex drive took a dive when I got on the pill. But I'm terrified of having a child, so I will stay on the pill.

It's been years since I was on the pill, but I dont remember it giving me any strange issues at all. I don't think my sex drive was affected, but I really wasn't on the pill too long, maybe 6 months before I had to be put on a depo shot for endometriosis and since that is a form of birth control it wasn't neccessary or possible to keep on with the pill. It varies so much with everyone though.

It didn't effect my sex drive, but instead I was just crazy. Like, I was crying one minute, mad the next. It was insane. I just was bouncing off the walls. Plus, I felt gassy all the time.

I've been on the pill for approximately the past 16 years. In that time I've been on a number of different brands/formulations, and I never had any problems with sex drive, appetite, mood, weight change, or anything. But it does affect everyone's body differently.

I've been on hormonal birth control since I started being sexually active for the most part, so I didn't have much time to figure out what was "normal" and what wasn't. On the shot for a few years that didn't help my sex drive at all, on one pill that made me nauseous as all get out 4 days before my period. It was only for the one day but it was so bad that I would have to call out of work and would just lay on the floor and be miserable. On this pill I've been fine, but I'm stopping taking it to try and get my body all figured out.

My sex drive was not affected by the pill but my hormones went wild as well as my mood. We went back to condoms and now I have an IUD for about a year. Love it......

I'm not actually sure if the pill affects my sex drive or not, I've been on it so many years. I started taking it when I was 14, and I'm 22 now. It's been pretty non-stop since then, with only a break of a month here and there. I wish I knew a little more clearly what the pill does to my hormone levels, but I don't really want to stop taking it just to find out since it's my favourite form of birth control. Not having to use condoms is just grand.

No real change to my sex drive, but it does make me super moody and PMS-y... not my favorite form of birth control.

My sex drive has increased a lot! I am usually a fairly horny person, but it has spiked a lot. I have only been on it for about 5 months.

My sex drive was messed up, my personality changed and I just didn't care aout anything anymore. Hell even my intimate smell changed to a nasty rank odor. NOT a good experience. I had two horrible bacterial infections that let me itching and miserable...and prone to UTIs. I'll never chemically alter my body chemistry again like that.
