Fortunately any sex dreams I have had, have been GREAT! Hopefully they continue that way
Ever had Rape Nightmares?
02/02/2011
I have them every now and then and they really, really bother me.

I have not been raped but I have had rape dreams. I dreamt of guys I knew that were a little much in real life when interacting with me. My dreams were so vivid that I felt like they really happenned, so when I saw these people I was so afraid in real life. I did not like those dreams.

I've had two nightmares of this type. One was years ago after someone sexually assaulted me in a store and the other nightmare was more recently, out of the blue. I theorize it stems from a fear of meeting new men in a city I haven't yet gotten accustomed to.
In the dream I was walking out to my car wearing a t-shirt as a night gown and was searching in the glove compartment when this guy started leering at me. Next thing I knew he was by my side and pushed me into the car and began raping me. It was a horrible nightmare. The nightmare ended with me walking back to my apartment in a torn shirt crying and hating myself for walking out the house in just that shirt and tempting the guy to do what he did. In the nightmare I was also wondering what I would say to my mother and fearing her reaction. Like I said real terrible dream.

I had a lot while I was in college and frequently walking home alone at night.

I had one when I was about 13, and it was horrible. From what I remember, I dreamed that two men abducted me from the bus-stop on my way to school. It was very vivid and (considering that I was already having sex dreams) not arousing at all. The dream shook me up really badly.
I've been raped as an adult, so I certainly had a lot of rape nightmares after that. That went on for about three years... Of course, I've also had nightmares about me murdering the guy too. I guess things balance out in my sub-conscious somewhere along the line.
They seem to fade as the fear gets pushed out of your life. I did notice that days with extreme anxiety would tend to bring back those dreams. Even things like work stress would bring it on. For me it stems from a fear of not being able to stand up for myself, or being negatively judged by a group of people. I'm sure that links to the rape experience on account of the justifications that he put forward afterwards, and the fact that I had no support from family or friends at the time.
If somebody called me a name at work, and I couldn't bite back: things like that would tend to bring back unpleasant memories for me. It's definitely a combination of fear and powerlessness.

Never a nightmare, sometimes a fantasy ( I know it's wrong lol)

When I was dating a guy that had a really negative attitude about the fact that I had had a lot of sex before we got together I had frequent nightmares of being raped/molested usually by children. The nightmares stopped after we broke up. It really fucked with my head in ways I can't explain.

I've had plenty of nightmares but as far as I can remember rape has never been one of them. A lot of my nightmares tend to involve guns.

This is actually a pretty good question. I was very interested in reading other's answers. I have had rape nightmares for nearly 5 years, nearly every time I sleep. Mine started though, right after I was raped and got worse as I decided to deal with it a year later. In almost every single nightmare, it's someone I knew or was close with, sometimes even very old friends I've not spoken to in years. My last one was last week and it was an ex boyfriend. Anyways, they're always someone I knew, but they end up actually being my rapist pretending/disguised as an old friend. It sucks I hate it & every single time I manage to come to consciousness enough to realize it's just a bad dream and it seems I still end up falling for it! I wake up exhausted like I've ran a marathon the night before. I used to get so tortured after the dreams. I'd be terrified and be looking all over for the rapist to show up all day long, everywhere! & Now, I usually am OK with it after I've woken up and shook it off. Sometimes they're really bad & I'll be crying or trying to yell and when I let out a little peep it wakes me. Now it just feels normal to have those dreams. I wouldn't ever want to go through it again, but I'm not scared to sleep anymore over it.

i've never had a rape dream about myself. i have has sexual dreams though

i have nightmares of my disgusting grandfather from time to time. hes not part of my life anymore because he took advantage of me when i was very young like before 5 and went on four some time didnt tell anyone until i was 12

I have had rape nightmares before, but they never happened until after I was raped. I had them a lot a few months after, when everything hit me, and then they went away. And then when I got with my current girlfriend, a lot of them came back to me and I would have waking nightmares, a lot.
However, I haven't had any since then, and never did before that, so I don't think it's anything other than a trauma thing.

I've never had a rape dream while asleep at night. But I have an ultra-active imagination--it's as if there's always a movie running in my head--so I had to stop watching crime-solving shows like Law and Order: SUV because I'd be imagining myself in those situations.

That is exactly the same situation that I was in, my nightmares ended shortly after the relationship did as well. What a weird situation.....

@Thoughts Ablaze - I have that too... but I love SVU way too much to stop watching it, I actually once described the staircase and hallway going out to the back lot of my apartment building the rape hallway. When asked why, my answer was, "because this hallways is the beginning of a law and order episode" It isn't really on an episode, but if you saw it... you would know what I meant, not well lit, all concrete, out of the way. CREEPY.

I have a ton of nightmares. Only one or two were rape, but it's always something like that, loss of control, just going batshit insane in general...

I have lots that are very vivid and upsetting but I've never been raped.

Yea occasionally but not in a long time. Prob will now as im just about to go to sleep and this is the last thing on my mind now ha.

I have them super rarely. Usually involving someone I know, and its rape, but its not rape.. it was kinda hot.
08/05/2011
Never had a rape dream, but plenty of wet ones!
08/05/2011
I have them all the time.
The worst one was when I was in the hospital this summer. I dreamed that a janitor anally raped me while I was alone in my room (I didn't have a roommate at the time). All the doctors and other patients on the floor were gone and even if they were around, I couldn't scream for help. I could open it, I just couldn't say anything.
The worst part was that it felt so realistic. I couldn't stop crying when I woke up.

I agree that it's a sign of something not being in order and out of your control.

I have never had a bad sex dream before.

I have had many dreams where the door wasn't locked and someone got me. I check them and I harass my hubby about them if he goes to bed after me. I have had a few rape dreams but they were a while ago.

Wow that definitely does sound scary, I have had dreams where I realize a door was unlocked (though in my dreams it's always a zombie or a murderer behind the door) and that's the most gut sinking feeling in the world. I even have to double check my doors at night before going to bed. I'd look at waking up as a win though, that's how I usually do if I am having a nightmare. When I wake up right before something bad happens I look at it as if I succeeded in stopping it because in essence I did stop it..by getting myself to wake up. Sometimes it's very hard to push through whatever bad is happening in a dream to get yourself to wake up, so by not allowing your subconscious to pull you in and by waking yourself up you've succeeded. That's how I look at it anyway.
And Sonny and Cher? That's gotta be incredibly freaky..did you flinch whenever you'd see a picture of them or heard one of their songs? I think I would have! less
