I'm not on medication at the moment.
Do you take any psychoactive medications (Anti-depressants/mood stabilizers/etc) and do you think they effect your capacity to orgasm?

My partner has been on several different medications for ADHD (some of which are also used as antidepressants) and they made it /extremely/ difficult for him to orgasm. We'd have sex for two hours straight and he still could only barely stay hard, and masturbation was impossible. Now he doesn't take it regularly and we no longer have that problem.

Ive been on SSRIs (Prozac) for BDD and OCD, and i found that when my doasge went up, it completely lost my sex drive, and for three months i seemed to have no interest in sex, porn bored me, and i saw no pleasure from it.
Thankfully the dosage doesnt effect me in "that way" still.

I've been having some conversations recently with people about how I need some super intense stimulation to get off (hitachi magic wand on high directly on the clit for more than 15 minutes intense) and realized that it's been more difficult for me in the past few months than it has been for me in the past (although it's always been hard, no pun intended). The only difference between now and earlier this year is that I started taking an anti-depressant and I know that several psychoactive medications have a negative impact on sex drive (which is a major reason why several people don't take them). So I'm curious if anyone else out there is taking any kind of medication or has in the past and noticed a negative impact like having more difficulty in achieving climax or needing progressively more intense stimulation to reach orgasm.

I'm currently not on any medications, but about eight to ten years ago I was on zoloft and paxil (not at the same time, and not consistantly, either). I don't know if they had any effect on my sex drive, because it was loooong before I was ever active. I didn't even masturbate back then.
I do think it's possible that they did have an effect on me, though, because to this day not only can I not have an orgasm of any kind, but I have little to no desire to even have sex in the first place.

I was on Celexa and Wellbutrin for years with no problems. Then I switched the Celexa with Lexapro because it is suppose to have less side effects. My mood improved some but my sex drive dropped some, too.
It didn't really affect my ability to orgasm so much as it just decreased my interest to begin with.

I'm on a mood stabilizer and it doesn't make it hard to orgasm... it just makes it hard to care. I used to be a lot more interested in sex, but these days it takes coaxing to get me in the mood.

i dont but my gf takes medicine and its hard for her
07/06/2012
I have been on a few before that messed with my sex drive but when I was in the mood I could still have mind blowing orgasms

I don't take any but I think I should to calm myself down sometimes.

When I was on Prozac I couldn't orgasm for the life of me. It was even hard to get turned on.. But I've been on wellbutrin XL for over a year now and it's AMAZING. It's actually increased my sex drive, and works wonder for the depression.

I deff think it's the meds
07/21/2012
I don't take meds I believe in natropathic remedies, but at the moment I don't need anything natropathic or medicinal.

Medication definitely can affect sexual libido and ability to orgasm.
07/22/2012
I've been on Zoloft for about 15 years (for depression & anxiety). I feel like I have problems orgasming, especially when I'm with someone. I still have a normal libido, but just have problems finishing
07/23/2012
My birth control and my antidepressant make it more difficult for me.

I've been on Lexapro for a couple of months now, and I do feel it makes it harder to orgasm. Then again, I feel it also affects my interest in sex in general (as did the depression before medication).
So, yes, I do think meds affect it.

I take several medications and I've definitely noticed a difference not only in my libido but my general feeling of well-being. I'm on one pill that make s me feel nauseated and it's hard to get sexy when you feel that way. I was also on steroids and anti-anxiety pills, both which just about KILLED my libido entirely. Fortunately, I got used to my anti-anxiety meds and I'm being tapered off the steroids so it's easier to get in the mood and orgasm.

I probably should be on some sort of medication, but one of the reasons I don't really want to take it is the possibility of it affecting my sex drive or ability to orgasm. The main reason, though, is not being able to afford to go see anyone about any of the issues I have.
10/25/2012
I take Celexa and Lamictal, and I have never noticed a change..

When I was on various SSRI's I couldn't get properly aroused, mentally or physically. It was really awful. I also gained a lot of weight.
I took Risperdal for a really long time until it made me start lactating. I've been off it for like 3 months and I'm still slightly lactating lol.
I take Wellbutrin and it is excellent and I can have orgasms and be sexually aroused again. If any of you are on SSRI's or similar medications that give you sexual side effects to the point that it bothers you, you should definitely discuss trying out Wellbutrin or something similar with your doctor. Sometimes add it to your meds to try to combat the sexual side effects.

I was on celexa for about 6 months and it made it harder for me to cum. I think it is definitely a possibility that the drugs are having that effect on you,
04/26/2013
I take Concerta and Cylexa, and both kinda curb sexual desires for the most part, till they wear off at night.

I am on medication and I actually think it has helped me...
04/27/2013
I am not on antidepressants (had some bad experience), but I do take a bunch of supplements to help my anxiety and depression. If anything, my sex drive is increasing.

While on them, even with one or another of the ED meds it was difficult to orgasm even once if at all. I had attributed that decrease in ability to just being a bit older, but now, I'm now completely off of those kinds of medications, and my ability to have more than one orgasm in a session is returning.
05/28/2013
I use to take a few of them and it affected my mood to want sex no longer take meds now
