A new survey of 1,661 men in the US conducted by Debby Herbenick, an Indiana University researcher, found that the average penis size is a whopping 5.6 inches (14.2 centimeters) when fully erect with an average girth of about 4.8 inches (12.2 cm).
Herbenick conducted this study among colleagues for "the purposes of fitting for a condom" asked men to measure their erect unit's length and girth, and then submit the data to an online survey. The sizes ranged from the smallest at 1.6" and the largest at 10.2".
What is most interesting about the study was that the way in which an erection was obtained varied in size. Many men in the study who received oral sex to become aroused and maintain an erection were found to have a larger than agrave size than those who obtained an erection through fantasizing about a sexual encounter.
Now, while size is always an interesting topic at hand, another study suggest a woman's preference in size is based on their height while another states that girth matters more than the length when it comes to what you may be packing.
Herbenick's future projects include maybe gathering information for a study on women's genitals, stating "It would be good for women to have good data to show, 'Hey, there's a lot of diversity for women's genitals, just like there are for men's," though she does not give much detail on what she would be taking measurements on: the size of an erect clitorus or could it be the size of the average labia majora in comparison to the labia minora, or both.
