I'm 35, I've had my prostate examined last year. It's no big deal... With in like 15 seconds it's over with.
The doctor was like bend over and the finger was in to check things out!

I wish my doctor were half as gentle as my wife when it comes to prostate exams, but I have one every year and NEVER had any issue. It is NO big deal...oh, and it can save your life. That makes it a no brainer. Get a Colonoscopy too, at some point. The PREP on those ISN'T fun (there is nothing too the exam, you sleep through it), but while the prep sucks...who wants crampy diarrhea all night after drinking a gallon of horrible tasting salt water? It TOO is more then worth it. Sure beats dying of colon cancer. HANDS DOWN.

My father died of prostate cancer - so I've been getting prostate exams annually since 50. It's no big deal. The fact that I'm shaved use to be a source of discomfort - but we're both use it by now.

I have one every year and have had many as part of physicals for clinical trials for ED and/or BPH. Never been a big deal.

I had several prostate exams and they were no big deal. The first time though, was surprising because I didn't know what to expect. ( first time anything was up my butt)

No kidding. The same with a colonoscopy. One of my co-workers put off getting the colonoscopy until it was too late. He was just a little older than me when he died a year ago last December of colon cancer.

Oh for sure with a colonoscopy. Got to do it. I've known two people really close to me who were saved because they caught it early through this exam.

Haven't had one, but seems people overhype it and make a bigger ruckus about it than it is.

Prostate exams are not recommended for young men like you. By the time you get to my age (mid50s) and you know many who have had - even died from prostate cancer, it will be important - not 'over-hyped'.

My husband has had them. He always acts offended and silly when he gets home. "The doctor did a bad thing to me." Oh, for heaven's sake, try having a PAP smear or.... a baby and all the indignity that goes along with that!

He's overdue for one, and always has excuses not to go to the doctor. *sigh*

We're all going to die from something but let's try to keep dying from something that could be caught and treated or cured early.

Haven't had one either, but I'm younger so it isn't a overly large concern yet. Luckily don't have many problems in my family.

I hear it's really not that bad. Men are more likely than women to skip on exams, though.

Agree - no big deal! Exam before age 50 is recommended; probably as early as age 40; better to treat or cure early. A PSA test could be an early screen to establish a baseline for future exams.
