I use this aleo and menthol shaving creme, and I have perfected shaving that area.. mine looks better than a playboy model (no lie).. I use several different angles and I always shave against the hair.. the aleo helps with any bumps.

I use a combination of with the grain and across the grain. Going with the grain leaves a "5 o'clock shadow" right after shaving which obviously grows back extremely quickly, but going along the grain pulls and is rather uncomfortable. Personally I HATE shaving, but can't stand having hair down there. It is a constant battle for me.
However! I have found a really AMAZING DIY product that has helped get rid of razor burn and in grown hairs for me (I used to get them ALL the time!!) It uses asprin, witch hazel, and rubbing alcohol.

I had really bad razor burn and a million ingrown hairs and after about two days of spraying it on morning and night all of that cleared right up. I now spray it on right after shaving and sometimes the next morning and everything has stayed beautifully clear. It's really great! It does burn a little bit right after shaving, but it's definitely worth the tiny amount of pain for a second to not have any razor burn or ingrown hairs.

I've never really thought about this much but mostly against the grain but will switch if my razor misses a spot.

I use all 3

I normally don't shave, just trim, but since I'm getting rid of my pubic hair permanently with IPL, I have to shave in-between sessions.
When I do, I use a combination of against and to the side, depending on the area. I hate putting up with the itchy feeling of having stubble down there, but hopefully it will only be for a few months more...

I use an electric shaver. It doesn't get it as close as I want, but at least it doesn't cause razor rash.

Actually I have a funny story about shaving down there. My brother had ran out of shaving cream and he ended getting what he thought was shaving cream for my sister's legs, turns out it was for her bikini line. He was embarrassed but said his face had never felt smoother or had a better shave. So one day while shaving in the shower I got curious and decided to see how nice of a shave it would give. It was the best shave I've ever had down there, one swipe and it was gone and no bumps, razor burns, or cuts. I thought it was really funny.

against for me, faster and smoother

For me:

- But going to the side is just right. Closer than going with the grain, but not enough to cut the skin or cause super amounts of razor burn.
So I vote: #3
(BTW, I just put this in the Men's sexual health area because I couldn't find a neutral section, and decided here since the creator of this poll(myself) am a male) less

When I shave I go up, down, side to side with no pattern. I also wax or use bikini creams.

I go against the grain because it gets everything a little smoother.
02/17/2012
I always start with an electric trimmer. Getting rid of the bulk of it makes the straight razoring go much smoother. Certain areas I can only use a trimmer because going too tight with a razor will invite ingrown hairs (ugh).

A combination, but with an electric razor I found moving in small circles works best.

Electric trim the pubic area and for the balls i usually pull to one side and go against the grain. I've been shaving down there for like 6 or 7 years now though so it's kind of used to it.

I go against and across the grain.
I have significantly less irritation since I started using razors with no fewer than 4 blades and using Bikini Zone Shave Gel. Sometimes I use their after shaving treatment cream.

At first, I go with the grain, and then I go against the grain to make sure I get the shave as close and smooth as possible for maximum time without regrowth.

It Varies

Combo over here...

I have to approach from all angles. Its hard to get all the hairs on my testicles and on the taint. Very smooth when finished.
08/08/2012
I use a combination of angles to get it as smooth as possible

I do a combination of angles.
08/08/2012
Combo approach. Have some Balls Balm I need to try.
08/08/2012
Initially with, then against to clean it up
08/08/2012
if longer than 3-4mm, i go with the grain first. when 1-2mm i go side angle, and if it's a short stubble i go against the grain.

Go with the flow!
