Husband Couldn't Orgasm?

Contributor: Kaltir Kaltir
I have a question for all the guys out there... I know men can have problems getting off sometimes, but in the last 5 years my husband has never had that issue. Last night he suddenly just couldn't? He was definitely turned on, and we had sex for awhile, and he felt close to it a few times. After a bit he gave up and said it hurt and felt like he was right there, that he wanted to cum so badly, but it just wasn't happening. He waited a moment and we tried again, but he just couldn't? We have an active sex life, but haven't done anything in about a week because I've been very sick. Usually if he goes without for more than a day he doesn't last that long even. He gets that excited. I'm lost as to what might have caused this. Any ideas?

I'm not a man but did he have any alcohol to drink? Sometimes that can keep men from being able to have an orgasm?!?

Thank you, but no, not a drop. Been there and done that though, and it's different. If he has any issue from drinking he doesn't get as right on the edge as he did with this. Like we both swore half a second more and he would be over the edge... Even with alcohol he doesn't tend to have any issue. :-/

tell us about your husband's health. is he in shape? is he active? does he have any health issues or take any medications?

btw, i have had this happen to me. it has only happened because of 2 things:
1) too much alcohol.
2) trying to have a second orgasm too soon.

I've not had a problem with this until my late 50s (58). I have found that anal play brings in new sensations that do the trick. Sometimes the anal is on me - sometimes on my wife. Anal sex or pseudo DP using a toy is also helpful.

He's in ok shape. He smokes about a half a pack a day, but doesn't drink often. He isn't on any medications. He is active, as is our sex life. Hence the worry, after 5 years with NO problem like this at all. He didn't have anything to drink, and has had similar trouble with a second orgasm coming on too soon, but this wasn't a second orgasm this time. :-/

Thank you, but it wasn't a lack of sensation at all. He felt like he was right there, about to orgasm, but it just wouldn't.... release? And we're already well active with different toys, etc, and change it up a lot. Not to say we were doing anything out of the norm that would've caused this either though.

It happens sometimes. I wouldn't worry. Could be any number of things. If it happens frequently, that's another story.

everything sounds fine except the smoking. if this persists, you may want to google and see if there is a connection to this issue and smoking. otherwise, write it off as a one off fluke.

Based on what you have said, I would consider it an off night and not worry about it. If it keeps happening though, he should talk to a doctor. Just in case!

Might be stress. I don't know how the male sexual organs work that well, but as far as I know with my body, it's extremely hard to orgasm when I am under stress.
