My Doctor with the Veterans Administration has me on anti-depression medicine, and yes it does affect my libido. I asked him about this and he advised me that is a downside to using the medicine. Have been researching trying herbal supplements along with getting more fruits and veggies in my diet. Thank for posting this. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I have depression. I have not really had a problem with a low sex drive, but some anti depressants will lower your libido. I'm at that age where I'm hitting my peak, so my libido is out of control. You should talk to a dr about something to help with that. Some meds can be combined to to help with depression and help with libido. Sometimes low libido is a health or hormonal thing. Get a full physical if you haven't already. Also Chasteberry herbal supplement is supposed to help, but I would check w/ dr first. Google "cure for low libido" and see what you can find.

I have done some research and there are herbs to help, but you should check with your dr so there are no weird interactions with anti depressants.

Sorry, I posted that Chasteberry will help, but it will actually lower your libido.(which is what I need). I know I read there are herbs to help increase libido, but you may want to google first, then talk to your dr before combinig w/ your meds.

I'm currently taking Zoloft and I saw a problem with reaching orgasm at first, but after about a month or two I'm right back where I started, so still on the meds only now with no side effects. Though my doctor offered to put me on another drug to help with my sex drive should any problems arise from being on the anti depressants.

I would suggest seeing a professional. Drugs can help (antidepressants), but psychologists are just as effective too. It can be very difficult. But I would seek a professional. Anecdotes have a place, but can be misleading sometimes.

I have struggled with major depression with anxiety my entire life, and I've tried it all-supplements, medications, exercise..you name it. Recently I was introduced to a practice known as Nichiren Buddhism. I know it sounds crazy, but there is a phrase you chant, and you can get anything you desire. I mean ANYTHING. Including healing from depression. I know because I'm doing it. I've never been this stable in my life. One month + without suicidal ideation...that's a record for me. I haven't been exercising or taking any special supplements or medications. Just chanting. FYI, I am not into religion and I admit that I thought this was insane in the beginning, but I gave it a try and it really works. I've had some other major benefits, so I know it's not just placebo. It is not really a religion, but more of a spiritual practice. If anyone wants to know more, please feel free to PM me. Or you can always just look up SGI (Soka Gokkai International.) I'm not compensated by them in anyway-I'm not even an official member-just want to help other people who are suffering like I have.

My wife went through depression, and the doctor gave her zoloft. It made her like a zombie, so she quit taking it. She takes st. john's wort (herb) when she starts to feel that way partnered with some exercise and that works well for her.
