I was just reading the Movember post about testicular and prostate cancer awareness and I thought I'd bring up the self-exams that almost everyone (myself included) forgets to do.
Here's an idea: bring them into your sex play. That way they become "regular" without being a chore. You can do them alone or with a partner, and the best thing is that they can be incoporated easily into sex play with just a little more "mechanical" feeling.
Men can do testicular self-exams during foreplay or handjobs/masturbation, or their partners can do it. Partners do need to be very gentle, and the men need to trust their partners, but it can work. Likewise men can do breast exams on their wives/girlfriends as a part of foreplay. Do talk with your partner first because it's important to figure out technique and what you're feeling for, but it can be done.
Some people/sites bring up the idea of doing a prostate self or partner exam. I personally like anal play, and there isn't much that can go wrong from prostate play if you're careful, but I certainly wouldn't rely on a self or partner prostate exam to tell you anything. Trained doctors even have a hard time telling much from the limited amount they can feel, so my advice is do anal play as anal play if you want and don't worry so much about a "prostate self exam".
