My sister-in-law recently asked me what I thought was a good to for her and her husband to try. Since I am fairly new to toys myself and don't have a lot of experience in different types, I figured I would ask some of you who are more knowledgeable than myself. They want to spend no more than $40 or so. Any suggestions I could pass on to her would be appreciated. Also anything to stay away from would also help. Thanks!

Toys for couples
I'm trying to get some ideas on how and which toys to use as a couple. The suggestions on EF for just 'couples' toys' seems pretty lackluster, so...
Couples fun with the Club Vibe?
Have you used this with a partner? Did it spice things up?
Internal, External, or Both? What is necessary for you to orgas,
I personally have found that external only simulators just don't do it for me. The orgasms just feel shallow... I mostly stick to just internal. What.
Best couples vibrator.
For those out there who have more then one of these what one would you say is the best one.
Does anyone have both the Mimi and G-Ki? If so I have a question. Read more inside.
I LOVE the Mimi and was wondering if the G-Ki had the same type of vibrations, motor, etc? Now that I've found something to get me to have clit...

IMO, getting a good quality sex toy from the beginning saves a lot of time, misery and eventually money on having to buy new toys when you find out your cheaper toy is made of inferior materials, isn't strong enough or dies on you. I've heard too many women say "Vibrators don't work for me." when in actuality, they didn't buy a quality toy, and the problem was quality. If they had spent a little more and done some research, they could have found a decent toy that did everything they wanted it to.
My Man and I started with a medium quality realistic phallic vibrator. This way, he could participate performing oral sex, or eventually DP, while the toy was being used. We eventually found out this toy was not made well, was of a dangerous material which outgassed and the material didn't hold up. We did our reserch and we replaced it with a nice Fun Factory all silicone vibrator.
A G Spot or straight phallic vibe or dildo can help during oral or manual sex or anal sex. A powerful massage vibrator, like the Wahl or the Hitachi or any of the Fairy Vibrators can provide clitoral stimulation during PIV or anal sex, as can even more expensive clitoral vibes like the Lelos and the Forms.
For women who orgasm easily and just want to try a little something, a nice bullet vibe might fit the bill. Some couples find they are SO small they tend to not be used during partner sex.
I don't find Rabbit Vibes to be all that great for partner sex, but that's just my opinion. They do so much, there doesn't seem to be anything for the partner to do. Your mileage may vary.

Thank you..I will pass on all that to them. I appreciate the quick and thorough response! In your opinion what would be a better price range for them to realistically spend on a decent vibrator?

Are they just wanting something for her? Or something they can both use. For both I suggest a C-ring with a vibe. That way both partners can try out the vibes, you can also take out most bullets and use them all over.

I'm a big advocate of starting with a simple, good quality, multispeed slimline. It has multiple uses, can be used together or alone, is not at all intimidating, and can be used at lower speeds until they're used to something higher. I personally prefer velvet cote plastic, but any kind of hard plastic is fairly safe and easy to care for.
The BGood by BSwish link and the Jimmyjane Iconic Smoothie link would both be good choices.

Maybe a non-intrusive bullet or egg vibe might be good to start off with. If for both, then I second the vibrating cock ring idea.

I have to agree with all of this! Stay away from the unsafe materials..it just leads to either infections which can turn people off sex toys, or it leads to having to replace way too often. High quality goes a long way.

Also..I have to agree with all the recommendations for types of toys...these are all thes ones we find to work well for us as a couple. I love my rabbit vibes but they don't get used as often as they're really just a solo toys.

Yes they are looking for something they both can use..Thank you all for the suggestions. Her birthday is in a few weeks so maybe I'll buy one for her..

I like silicone toys. They are inert material, very safe, no smell taste etc. They are allergy free and very sturdy. As I am not a rabbit user (as of yet, I am thinking of buying one, but can not decide which one I like) the ones I am suggesting are all either straight or G Spot internal vibes
Little silicone toy at $47.99
link
The Gigalo is a lovely, well made silicone G Spot toy at at $64.99
link
For something a little bigger, the Heartbreaker has lovely texture at $64.99
link
I have not tried any of the Fun Factory Astrovibes, but they are a little less expensive at about $27.99 a piece. They only have a dial base, with no patterns of vibration, as far as I know. They may be a good way to get GOOD quality and not spend a lot. You may want to read the reviews on these, as I don’t own one, myself.
link
The JoyDivision toy are also all silicone and run about $54.00
link
I was lucky enough to test out a brand new one, not yet available, and it’s a winner for women who love girthy, big toys. It is not yet available, but I LOVE this toy
link
This is a great little bullet, but I don’t use these as partner toys. Bullets are used mainly as clitoral stimulation, and some people do use them during anal sex or PIV sex to stimulate the clitoris.

This bullet is a little different in shape

This list barely scratches the surface. I would definitely stay away from anything made of “Jelly” or “Jelly Rubber” as these can outgass nasty chemicals that are not good for your body and often they smell awful. Some people enjoy hard plastic toys, others prefer more pliant materials, IMO, silicone is the safest softer material. Well made silicone toys are made of medical silicone, and usually have a firm base under the softer silicone. Also, toys made from Cyberskin (you can look these up under "Shop" at the top of the page) are a nice feeling material.
Reading reviews is really helpful to find what you like. Also, if you and your friend become regulars on the Edenfantasys forum, there is a program where you can earn points toward discounts on toys. It’s a good deal.

Also, externally used Massagers, used on or near the clit are great, especially for women who may have a hard time with orgasm, or who want a LOT of power. I usually pair these with either My Man's penis, his hand or a phallic vibe or dildo, for internal stim, plus the massager for clitoral stimulation in power you just can't seem to get from battery operated toys.
The Wahl, the best external vibe I know of. Ugly, but still the best.
Wahl Massager Vibe
It’s also great for massages and sore bodies
The Hitachi might be intimidating for a beginner, but it is a Classic. I have a Hitachi and it is a powerful toy, but the Wahl is lower register, more thrumming and rumbly and I like the Wahl better. Millions of women swear by the Hit though.

I would look into a vibrating cock ring that would stimulate both of them or all all over non-discript massager There are also kits with tons of different stuff in them that would be a good guide to what they will like in the future.

I swear by the Bnaughty deluxe.
