I guess I'm looking for a list of things you look for, including details, and general things you wonder about when you are interested in a vibrator? This isn't just exclusive to vibrators, I'm also curious when it comes to dildos, lubes, storage etc. If you can explain, I'd appreciate it! thank you
What do you look for when you're interested in a vibrator?

I am most drawn initially by the look. I love cutesy, colorful vibes and if I like the look I move on to it's action. I love strong vibes and patterns and if it does cool tricks I'm totally in. It's tough picking a vibe you know nothing about. Especially if it is expensive. It's not like you can return it. That's why I'm glad for EF and the reviewers!

My biggest concern is how loud/quiet toy is
10/30/2011
Shape and how loud the toy is! Then I look at size and the material. A lot of what gets me to first click on it is the design, though! I love interesting colors.

I like the look and I need lots of power or the material it's made of.

My top concern is noise, as I live in a dormitory.
Second concern is appearance. I'd prefer a toy that is very small, discreet, and easy to hide.
I also prefer rumbly/deep toys to buzzy ones.

- Safety of the materials (I only purchase pure silicone, glass, aluminum, ceramic, wood, stainless steel and sometimes plastic)
- Shape (does it fit my body?)
- Texture (is it something I would enjoy, or something I haven't tried?)
- Size (will it fit?)
- Waterproof (not because I specifically like to use toys in the shower, but they are much easier to clean)
- Power (is it too strong or not strong enough?)
- Noise (everyone can hear everything in my home)
- Rechargeable is preferred because I hate to buy and find ways to recycle batteries
- Color (it can't be pink)

Generally when I'm shopping, a toy has to appeal to me, or have really good reviews for me to take a close look at it. Specifically, the first thing I pay attention to is the material (body safe, preferably silicone). Once it meets that criteria, I look for something rechargeable, with deep vibrations, and a good size. Also I pay attention to the noise level, and waterproof is an extra perk, although I won't discount a good vibe because it's not waterproof.

For me the material being non-porous is the most important aspect. I like toys that can be easily cleaned and maintained.
Then it's the batteries. You want something either rechargeable or use standard battery. Toys that use watch batteries or weird-sized batteries are big no for me.
Those 2 things are especially important.

Good reviews over a long period of time.
Something that's super quiet.
Oscillations rather than vibrations.

The material safety is extremely important to me and I like unique toys - something needs to be different and make it stand out. I also like strong thick vibes. I think the next important things would be the sound and smell. I can't stand strong smelling vibes and really loud ones can't be used but only at certain times. Outside of that I'm not really sure. I just go with what appeals to my nature.

When I'm looking for a vibrator, I look for safe material (7-10), lots of vrooms, rechargeability, water-proofness, and small size, in that order of importance (hence my purchase of the We Vibe Salsa).
When I'm looking for a dildo, I start by narrowing my search to only silicone, steel, aluminum, ceramic, glass, and wood.
Then I look for toys with a diameter of less than 1 1/2".
Then I look for appealing textures and colors.
