If you use a vibrator to often, do you get de-sensitized? It seems if I use a vibrator, its hard for me to get off without it. Is this common or just me?
Do vibrators desensitize you?

You're not desensitizing any body parts or nerves, it's been studied and proven before that vibrators can't cause anything but temporary numbness immediately after excessive use. It's a mental thing -- it's habit, nothing more. Just change things around a little so you don't always follow the same routine, and take the extra time that might be necessary to not use the vibe in a session, and you'll be fine.

Yeah, this happens to me too. It's temporary, but still sucks when it impairs your ability to orgasm!

This exactly. There will be no permanent damage. After using vibrating toys for a very extended period of time, you may occasionally have some temporary numbness.

You will not desensitize your body over time or anything like that. It's Urban Legend/Myth or an Old Wive's Tale.

The desensitization caused by vibrators is only ever temporary, and doesn't happen to everyone who uses them. Give it a rest for a few days or weeks and you'll be back to normal.

Yep, this. Temporary numbness is all they can cause.

I've had it happen too!

Nothing permanent. We don't use them during sex all the time.

Was looking for just this forum! Couldn't find it, happened upon it by accident clicking on a random page number. Strange how things work out.
I do think they desensitize you, at least for a day or so! I remember how happy I was when I got my first vibe, but then my horror when I realized how dependant I was on it! Couldn't enjoy anything else. I've now limited my vibe play to a special treat when I'm with my partner
