Contributor: Badass Badass
When you pick out an item and like it alot, and you look at the safety meter and it ranks low, 7 or below, do you still order it?

It does, but if I REALLY like the toy, I'm gonna get it anyways.

No matter how cool it looks, if it's not safe I won't be getting it.

The safety rating is only one factor. If I'm sure I can use it in a safe way, then I wouldn't worry about it. But since most unsafe toys are jelly, I generally refuse on the grounds of smell. I HATE when toys smell, and one Sil-a-gel dildo gave me a migraine just from being opened in the same room with me.

For me it depends on the item. If it's going to be used anally, I will only take safety level 10 now. However, if it's something like a sleeve I would prefer TPR, but has used the lower safety materials such as cyberskin.

I have seen plenty of anal toys that I thought, oh my god I want that it looks amazing, then when I notice it's made of jelly/rubber I get somewhat annoyed and it never gets added to any wish list.

So far I have only seen one thing that I couldn't find an acceptable substitute to use instead. In fact the safer toys I've purchased have been nicer anyway.

Depends if I have to use a condom on a toy I usually don't buy it. But as long as it doesn't need a condom I'll usually get it.

To clarify, I meant that yes, toy safety affects my purchases, not yes I'll buy it anyways.

I chose no for now, but that is something to consider.

If I am purchasing, then it must be safe. However, if I am given an assignment, I will grab some condoms in that order too.

It depends on what the toy is for. I don't share toys, and we will use a condom over ones that have a low safety rating, but I try to stick to the safest ones for the most part. I'm with Cookie Monster Mike, if it is going in anally, it has to be the safest materials!

If it's a low rating but an awesome shape, I may get it and use it while I search for something similar with a better rating.

Yes, material safety means a lot to me, I won't buy anything if they're not made with silicone, stainless steel or glass.

The safety rating really matters to us tho on occasion we have gotten the random not on our material list item to try

If i really like the toy I may try to find a similar one but typically I will just get it and try to make it safe to use by taking aS MANY STEPS AS POSSIBLE.

same here. my first sex toy experience was with a jelly dildo that eventually disintegrated on me, burning my insides, and off-gassing like a chem plant. it was sticky and nasty. never again.

I'm a stickler on materials. If it's going in my body, it's silicone, steel, ceramic, glass, etc. I'll do hard plastics for external vibes, though.

A bad experience with a jelly toy means I will always put the safety factor first.

I'm a little confused about the question. Are the responses to the poll responding to "do you still order it?" or "does the toy safety ranking affect your purchases?"
I responded that NO I won't order it. I won't order anything less than a 7 on the safety scale.

I am pretty picky about materials, so usually I look carefully at that before making any purchasing decisions. If I am going to be putting things in/on my body I want them to be good for me! There are exceptions, but definitely I am more inclined to buy very consciously when it comes to material safety.

Usually... toy safety is high on my list for a products made from silicone, glass and metal will last for ages. So I'd prefer to invest.

BUT there are some toys I buy that are on the wickedly unsafer side of toys, and I buy them as I know they are only going to get a few uses as I am checking out to see if I like what it has to offer. Then if I like it, I buy the body safer product.

I'm pretty sensitive to chemicals, and I don't particularly wwant to give myself an infection, so I only use safe, non-porous toys.
