Stronic Eins Silicone Texture?

Ok, so when I received my Stronic and opened the box I noticed that the toy had a lot of lint all over it. I assumed this was just something that happened during it's production or boxing.

I went to go wash it for the first time and I thought I was just having trouble getting it clean, because it still felt like there was a coating of lint on it.
I continued to rinse it and wipe it down but I realized it's the texture of the silicone.
All silicone toys I've ever had have been totally smooth, but the silicone on my Stronic appears to be rather grainy. If I look at the material under a light I can see the texture which looks like a coating of dust or lint.

The Stronic is my first Fun Factory toy and I'm not sure if this is just how their silicone feels, or if this was something done intentionally for the Stronic to increase friction.
I haven't seen anyone mention a rough or grainy feel in the reviews or the forum.
Does anyone else have the Stronic and also notice this? Or is mine just weird?

Insightful topic debates on Silicone vibrators:

SinFive Akmeo-Silicone VS SinFive Akmeo-WTP
What's the difference?!? I'm up for a review and the SinFive Akmeo-WTP came up. I think I want to get that as my first G-Spot vibrator. Might as well...

Does the Dolphin's nose stab your clit?
I've never tried one of these toys but it looks like the dolphins nose would stab you in the clit or surrounding soft areas. Has anyone had a problem.

Is the silicone of G4 Paul the same as the G4 Tiger?
As we all know, there are different textures of silicone out there. I was just wondering if anyone happens to know if the G4 Patchy Paul has the same.

Safe for silicone toys??
If this product is just Sliquid Organics Silk repackaged, then that makes it a hybrid lubricant that has silicone ingredients, correct? That means...

Really strange! I've never seen any toy do that before, and definitely not silicone except once I ordered one of the Berman vibes (Hera) from a store (not here) and it came opened from the box and inside an envelope and there was a powder coating and it was brownish though, so I was very hesitant about it.

However, some toys do have this weird powder coating and it should come off within a couple washes, but I don't know if that's what's going on with yours. I think they use some kind of powder to make it smooth because once I rinsed my Berman vibe, it was sticky and rubbery after.

You might contact the manufacturer of that toy & ask. I've done that before when I was curious about a material and they can usually give you some kind of explanation that'll help you make up your mind as to what it could be & if it's on all the toys or just some freak accident.

I'd contact the manufacturer.

Mine was covered in lint, too. When I washed it off, there were a few patches on it that were rough and felt like a cat's tongue.

The patches can't be felt during use, but feel kind of... off putting when touched with your fingers. It just feels weird.

*shrugs* It might just be mine.

Oh, this also might be worth mentioning. When it arrived, the inside of the box was torn up. Like, ripped to shreds sort of torn up. The outside of the package was perfect.

Yeah, it sounds like you have the same sort of thing I do, except mine isn't really in patches, it covers almost all of the toy.
The graininess is kind of iridescent/glittery like sand when it's under a bright light. Here's a photo I took.. there are a few fibers which you can see, but other than that there is no lint, all those little flecks are the texture on the silicone:

Strange, huh? I might try to contact Fun Factory just to check that mine's ok like Kendra suggested. But if this is a common thing for a lot of people then I guess I'll assume it's normal.

It's also weird that the inside of the box was torn up like that for you. Mine was fine but I thought it was really strange that the charger and toy were floating free around the box, but it doesn't appear there was any scraping or damage.

Yup. Mine was like that, too. That's just Fun Factory's silicone. My Big Boss and Delight are both like that. My Share is similar, though not as bad.

That's it! Mine is is like that all over, but certain patches are worse than others.

My other Fun Factory toys don't feel like this. So, maybe it was just a bad batch of silicone?

For $200, the silicone should be absolutely perfect. A "bad batch" would be completely unacceptable and inexcusable.

I feel the same way. I can't really tell if this is a defect or not. If it is then it's a very common one since others are reporting it with different items too.
For the price tag I would like to feel better about the quality of the item, and I think the fit and finish should be spot on.

Wow, when I got mine it never looked like that or felt like that. I got the pink one, maybe it was with the purples? I think a call to the manufacture would be a good idea. Maybe get a replacement because who knows what that stuff is or if youll be able to get it all off before using it. Might be harmful.

I've sent an e-mail, but nobody has gotten back to me about it.

I did get a purple one. I hope all the purple ones aren't like this.

Speak of the devil!
I just got a reply from Fun Factory:

"Thank you for your inquiry and your purchase of your FUN Stronic Eins.

To answer you question, the silicone on the Stronic Eins has a velvet finish meaning that the mold the silicone is poured into has a texture to it creating that "velvety" look/finish.

This does not effect the silicone whatsoever, it is more of a design element and can create some extra sensation with use however, typically no difference can be felt between silicone with a smooth finish and silicone products with a velvet finish.

We hope you enjoy your Stronic Eins and please feel free to contact us with any additional questions.

Have a wonderful day.
Happy Pulsating!"

So there you have it, I guess. They did it on purpose and maybe some got it more than others?

Every vibe I have from FF in the G4 Line is like that. I like it, but it's really all about personal preference. It's not a "bad batch", it's on purpose.

Is that it?

"Why is my $200 toy scratchy and feel weird?"
"Because it is VELVET textured. Duuuhh!"

That doesn't seem like a very satisfying answer. But, at least they got back to you.

I did end up messaging Fun Factory back, just to verify the texture of my toy still fell into the "normal" range.
I got two replies from the original person I talked to who was the sales manager and I also got one from the director of marketing.

They both assured me the texture is normal and they have a zero percent defect rate with their silicone and they are 100% certain the toy is fine and safe to use.
They said it just because of the texture of the molds they use, which varies for the different toys they make. They do intend for the Stronic Eins to feel this way to create more drag.

I just got my Fun Factory Booty and Boosty, and my purple Booty was covered in a weird white powder too. The Boosty is fine safe for a pretty big scratch down the side

I wouldn't use an any toy with a scratch, especially anally. The integrity of the silicone could be compromised (meaning hello bacteria), and the tear could get bigger over time. You may want to replace it.

Fun Factory likes to use micro-textures; they call the "Fun Factory Textures". If you go to their USA web site many of the dildos have a number value for the space; the Tiger has 1&2, the Amor has a 5, ect.. It's interesting, and it makes my Amor friggin' awesome, but I can see how it would look or feel off if you're used to silky smooth silicone.

I put in a ticket right away! My partner won't use anything that's not pristine.
