Your Preference: Regular Silicone or Dual-density?

Contributor: Arlinnae Arlinnae
In vibrators or dildos, which one do you prefer? Do you like simple silicone better or the dual density toys? Do you think the difference in price is worth it?

Dual Density is the way to go! I've been spoiled on it and rarely use anything else. Well worth the price.

I haven't tried dual density toys but I'd love to. I'd justify the price.

Dual core toys are awesome! And definitely worth the price. I don't even want to use regular silicone again after trying a dual core toy.

I actually like both pure, single density toys and dual density toys - just depends on what I'm in the mood for. Lately, I've been on a kick with the dual density VixSkin dildos. They are really nice!

Those who haven't had the pleasure of trying them yet - you should do yourselves a favor and save up those Eden Points!

A lot of people answered saying they liked one or the other, but didn't say why... I'd like to know too. I didn't think anything of the diff. until I read this. I'm not even sure if I own a "dual density." What exactly IS the diff?

I will tell you what type of silicone I prefer though. You have your plushy, thick silicone that can be grinded or used with pressure without feeling the rigidity of plastic. Then you have your "silicone" toys that aren't really silicone toys, they're just silicone COATED. Or even worse, the manufacturer calls them silicone toys, but they ain't even silicone at all, but have a very thin PU coating instead.

I personally prefer 100% silicone that you get in toys like Vitality (from the Leaf line) or from toys like Cleo and Matryoshka -- they're all thick silicone instead of a very thin silicone coating. I prefer this because I'm a grinder. I like to use a lot of pressure when I use a toy for clitoral stimulation, but when there's not a thick enough layer of silicone, it's painful because I can't apply pressure without feeling the hard plastic right underneath this thin layer of silicone. Sounds complicated, makes ME sound complicated, but hey. When you're paying so much for toys, you want what you want.

So I don't know really if I've even used this "dual density." But I know I prefer a toy that's actually got a thick layer of silicone. For instance Zini Deux. It boasts having a silicone side (the side you use, that's placed against your body/vagina) but it's actually SO thin that it's basically only a PU coat and you're pretty much grinding against hard plastic. PU coat is okay in some toys like Freestyle since it's mostly an internal toy, but it really isn't that special, PU coats.

Basically, I like plushy, almost squishy even. I like Vitality SO much because of the very thick, silicone.

I definitely prefer dual density dildos - especially Vixen Creations VixSkin but Tantus O2 is nice, too.

I was spoiled from the get-go since my first dildo was VixSkin Johnny.

Vixskin is so lifelike and comfortable. We recently bought a classic silicone dildo - and it just doesn't get used much.

I don't know yet. I just got my first Dual Density toy last week. Unfortunately, there was something embedded in the silicone that poked at my finger when I ran it over the spot, so I had to return it. It felt pretty neat in my hand, though.

Dual density is lovely but, I still use regular silicone as well.

I like both for different purposes. Some ridged or textured toys would only work in the firmer silicone, but the squishy dual density is great for a different kind of experience. Variety is the spice of life 'n' all.
