I've read that silicone rings can be used to put over a vibrator to keep it from going too far during anal use. However, I've also heard that silicone toys melt when they touch. Would a silicone ring such as the Cal Exotic's Adonis Caesar be compatible with a vibrator such as Lelo's Liv? How do you know if 2 silicone toys are safe to put together?

No way I'd depend on something like a silicone ring. I highly doubt it would be total assurance by a long shot, so there's no way I'd risk it like that. I'd just get a real anal toy. I don't know why anybody would recommend a silicone ring for this since it really does not seem like it would provide enough of a base to keep something from sliding far into the anus, especially considering those rings certainly don't look to be as wide as the bases that come on any anal toy, which I'm sure those flared bases are there for a reason.

But, to answer your actual question: supposedly, if it's 100% silicone (both toys!) they will not degrade or damage each other. It's the less than 100% silicone toys mixing you have to worry about, as far as I know. It's hard to be totally sure unless you know exactly what the materials are. Usually, you can tell if it's 100% silicone if you've ever felt of it & seen it before. You just have to look out for those who claim "100% silicone" on the package, when it's not really.

I think people are talking about the vibrator adaptors and usually use them on plastic or glass toys.

This review by Silverdrop seems to explain it better with pics of the ring on a Liv.

I've referred to these vibrator adaptors as you've mentioned and indicated in your link and just ordered the set. I'm planning on using them with my glass dildo's for vaginal use but was concerned upon hearing someone wanting to use the Stronic Eins for anal use. I do agree though its really best to use anal toys only for anal use.

Silicone toys won't melt together. Even different types/grades of silicone from different companies. They also won't melt on glass or hard plastic. It's PVC and jelly that to the melting.
If you want to trust a cock ring to keep your toy from going in too far, that's up to you. I wouldn't do it, personally. There are lots of readily-available anal-safe toys out there. (Heck, if you really like Liv, get Billy. Same size, same motor, but with a lip at the base to make it anal-safe.) I'd recommend using a ring that's got a flattened inside, like Doc Johnson's Platinum Cure silicone rings, to make the ring less likely to roll on your toy.
BUT I can tell you that the ring you've mentioned will not damage Liv. I've used the Island Rings, which are TPR silicone and from the same manufacturer, on my silicone dildos (to strap them to a pillow) and nothing melted.

Different grades can melt together over time, just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

This is the reason why you put your toys that aren't 100 percent silicone in something and not all touching each other in storage, yeah they might last for a few days but over time they break down and get destroyed.
