Do the rechargeable batteries seem to last longer than just regular ones? I don't know if I should purchase them or keep using the throw aways!

Yes rechargeable batteries are much better. There are several types. If you google rechargeable vs disposable you'll probably find it.

Rechargeable batteries are definitely a good investment, but I do find that they don't hold as much power over time.
