If it's anything like the other glass toys I've seen, then the colors are part of the glass itself, not painted on or anything like that.

No, the color you see is part of the glass. If the color comes off that means that glass has chipped off and you definitely don't want to use a chipped toy!

A little late, but no, the color you see is part of the glass it is clear glass with swirls and dabs of red glass. All one piece and nothing is painted. I have this exact one. Hope that helps.
