Is there something wrong with my toy?

Contributor: Artsy Artsy
So I bought a shibari halo wand (off of amazon because secret purchases). Anyways, the head of it is silicone and it's a water proof toy. I have had this toy for a week now, and I am noticing (or I just noticed) that there is this little patch of not as smooth silicone along the back of the toy, and that there is a finger print imprinted on the front of the toy. I have used this toy in total of about four or five times. a couple of those times, I have been on my period, and one of those times, I had used another vibrator that was silicon with water based lube. I made sure to not let these toys touch, since I am aware of how if silicon comes into contact with another silicon substance/material it can wear down the material.

So my question is, could the finger imprint of been there the whole time, or can that happen? And does these splotches of not so smooth silicon be a result of some deterioration, been a result from using it while on my period, or could that have also of been there the whole time and I just didn't notice it?

By the way, just so everyone knows, this toy is so frickin' awesome. I'm a beginner purchaser of sex toys, but for a first sex toy, I so far think this is a great buy.

The time of month would not result in damage to the silicone expect for possible staining.

Perhaps double check the lube to make sure water based. Or did it accidentally touch some other chemical, ie finger nail polish remover ? Sounds like you may have had some slight amount of chemical on your fingers for both sides to show discoloration. Toothpaste ?

If the silicone is compromised you may want to use a condom over it or other precautions. I believe Property of Potter did a review on this wand. Perhaps hit her up.

I double checked to make sure it is water based after I discovered it, it is 100% water based for sure. I don't think it can be something like nail polish remover, since I don't really doll myself up all that much, and I tend to wash my hands before handling things like this. Toothpaste can do that though? Oh my.... thank you, I had no idea that could possibly do that. I can take photos of the discoloration if it may help. Thank you, I will definitely hit her up!

From the looks of the line (vertical) seems it laid on something. Not being a scientist I couldn't answer whether is is still safe or not. Too bad Sex,Science and Food is no longer here. He probably would know. I tried googling compromised silicone but could not find anything.

Perhaps look under Amazon's policy and see if it is returnable. Some items are returnable within 30 days. However sex toys are not and stated so on product pages.

Or use a condom to play it safe, though it looks harmless. Also remember not all silicone are the same. Silicone on toys are not regulated by any agency.

Have you tried using toy cleaner on it ? What have you used so far ? Try googling how to clean...

I read various reviews on this toy. Sounds fabulous !

That is very true. On Amazon there are many many vendors. And sometimes the vendor is not aware it is a knock off. Long ago we got a Jopen for excellent price, it stopped working after few uses. After investigating turns out it was a knock off. Ours only accepted 3 batteries and the manual stated 4. I had to take pics of the chamber only being able to hold 3. Fortunately Ama gve us credit for the purchase.

Yandelldbell, btw is there a reason you didn't fill out your profile ? Have you just joined and not gotten around to it yet ? Anyway, thanks for dropping in and helping out.

omgosh, I just went to your link, shame on you for soliciting for a competitor !

I for some reason didn't see the replies on here, until now. However, I have figured out that it for some reason seems to look like it's the finish of the silicone or something...... I noticed that it's peeling for some reason. I've been trying to google about this, but I haven't found anything about this so far. Also, I've been keeping it in a pouch in my drawer - and it has not been touching any of my other toys at all... So I don't know if it could be from it lying in my drawer..... I keep my room at a very good temperature so I highly doubt it could be from heat of any kind.

Has anyone on here ever experienced this at all with a toy before?
