I know jelly toys don't last as long as silicone. Anybody knows about how much time it takes before the materials start breaking down??

From what I've heard, six months to a year is the life expectancy of many jelly toys. Wouldn't know from personal experience, though - my only jelly toy was leaking phthalates the moment I got it, and I wound up never using it.

Mostly from the greasy feeling, I believe.

This and I think the shower curtain smell is also the indicator.

It'll feel greasy or slimy, and the feeling may even stick on your hands and need to be washed off. It's really gross.

Yeah my Jelly toy didn't even last a month before it started getting slimy. Gross! I just use silicone now.

I've had the Lucid Dream #28 for about a year and a half, and it's lasted a surprisingly long time. It doesn't have any weird smells or textures to it. I believe it's made of the same material as the #8.

I believe sil-a-gel is a coating put over another material (though I could be wrong), and I've read in a lot of reviews that it tends to have a powerful smell no matter what.

You really can't know when or if for sure. If the toy contains phthalates, assume it is "leaking" these dangerous substances on or in your body.

The best choice is to simply stay away from Jelly. I've discarded the few Jelly toys I had years ago. It isn't worth the risk.
